After years of staying at 'modest' joints like the Hotel Ocampo or Hotel Suiza or Hotel Nubia, I finally broke down and hightailed it a couple blocks over to the Hotel America. I was looking for an alternative to Hotel Zaragoza - because Zaragoza was full and I needed that room right away. ||||I'm glad I made that choice - I'd known about the Hotel America, having passed it scores of times in my walkabouts to and from Zona Rio, passing the floral district and the fish-market district as well. ||||And there, just east of Ocampo, I discovered a quiet haven with all the few amenities I sought, except for an in-house restaurant. And all at a very reasonable price. The service is consistently good, the place is very clean, and it's conveniently located. In-room phones and TV, air conditioning, and a walled parking lot with a roving guard.||||Some folks may not like it - the rooms are on the small end of the scale - but the prices are good: singles are about $45 and doubles are about $65 (doubles are larger). They have a bar/restaurant, but it isn't set up and I've never seen it in use.||||This has become a favorite - and there are good eating...
Read moreI expected more cleanness only I saw a little stain on the sheet which is acceptable. It has community gated parking ,safe and security camera and then elevator works perfectly, the hotel is peaceful and quiet. The breakfast also was included which is great to start a day and the quality of breakfast was awesome. I enjoyed a lot.
I had a guest and she was welcome on the lobby. She was accepted by the reception and welcomed without asking any ID card or etc, Which is awesome. They made an environment for us like a home.
Also some Taxi's outside the entrance door were available to pick up.
The only issue was Wifi which is disconnected every 15-20 minutes. I couldn't have video call continuously. Internet speed was good, no buffering.
And then the other issue for English speaker like me was the reception can't talk English on my check in and check out time, I used Google translate to communicate. But she was nice and respectful, and she helped me to change the remote for TV with smile. I'll be back there...

Traveling with family and friends so booked two rooms and they took cash/cash deposits (credit card not needed per agent) limited parking so we had to be very careful where we parked ( I was given bit of advice from another hotel guest that leaving your vehicle unattended might be a problem) but we found Great parking inside. I gave a 2 star since the rooms were ok (clean and not in bad condition for the price) Housekkeping seemed nice but at checkout the agent at the front desk was rude and looked for any excuse to keep the deposit, claimed that we damaged old towels and room had an odor of cigarette, I was unable to speak to anyone (no mgmt it seems) so they kept my cash deposit. Luckily it was only for one night but left me with a bad...
