The hotel surroundings are as quite as one can expect in the center of a bustling city, however the hotel itself was very quite all day long (in fact the hotel manager said if I hear anything to let them know and they will deal with it immediately). So, you can easily sleep there during the day, too. ||||Its right in the middle of TJ, so 5 minute walk to the south end of Revolution street, for the Gringos (like me). 2 minutes to the nearest taco stand for your breakfast, lunch, and dinner (which is where I ate all the time and got to know the staff). You can walk everywhere, no car is needed, so you can keep it parked in the safe guarded hotel parking lot! This was one of my big concerns. Only a couple blocks down there is the cultural center for Baja which is very nice and you are 2 minutes away from Highway 1 which will either take you right to the border or down to Rosarito or Ensenada.||||Ok, the rooms themselves were not resort-like, but who is expecting that for a $25 TJ hotel, right!? Overall they were clean, no hair anywhere, no stains, etc. No flipflops in shower necessary. When I came in the next day, they had made my bed and towels. Also, no bugs to be found and clean bed. Basically a clean hotel, like a standard one night stay hotel in the US, maybe even better.||||Initially, I did consider staying on the US side near the border and travel into TJ in the morning but when I read the US hotel reviews (very disgusting) at 3x the price, I decided to take a risk. I can honestly tell you it was...
Read moreLady at the reception desk had of an attitude because I told her you didn't give me the correct change amount in dollars. Worst part off all the smoke detector went off at midnight several times. I called the front desk no answer. The second time within 10 minutes contacted the main number listed with my cell phone. Guy say's call me back if it sounds again hung up on me before I could say something ..really. Right after I hung up within minutes smoke detector goes off again making loud screeching sound. I contact the front desk he comes over removes the smoke detector. Staying on the 1st floor my parents are seniors no one should have to be woken up by a smoke detector due to the battery running low on the detector. Shame on staff and management allowing this to occur. There are plenty of other places to stay that you'll be treated with Respect and no smoke alarm going off...
Read moreThey did not have our reservation when we got here. Took an hour to check in using Google translate. The staff person took too much money for candy then refused to give it back. Finally she gave it back to us. The hotel is under construction. Very dirty and noisy. There is a bar next door with loud music until very late at night. My faucet leaked all night and filled the sunken bathroom floor. I slipped and fell back and hit my head. I asked the front desk to fix it. 7 hours later we got back and it was still leaking. The bedspread and carpet had holes worn in them. There are only large bath towels. No wash clothes. The mirrors are so dusty and dirty they looked fuzzy. The room is very dark with all the lights on. No wifi. You have to buy bottled water. About the only good thing is the matress. It is very comfy. The pillows are SUPER...
