This is a tough one to write but feel I had to so others are aware. When I booked here, I saw only the pictures of the main hotel which looked beautiful and is beautiful once we arrived. Right after I booked it, they sent me a Whatsapp message saying our ocean front suite is across the street. I tried very hard to get more info and searched many sites trying to get info on this property. It must be some condos they recently acquired and rent them through there main hotel name. Anyhow, the room was nice. The only downside, is you can hear everything from the neighbors, their shower sounded like it was in our room. I could here them singing in the shower, cooking, talking. The hallway is extremely loud too. Woke me up several times as people clunked down the stairs. They allowed us to walk across the street to use the lagoon side gardens and pool area. The ocean side room had a pool too with a beach and ocean. That part was enjoyable, just be warned, the locals love that beach too and was very crowded while we there. Locals really like their music too. Plenty of boomboxes on the beach. The owners are very sweet however. Just make sure your rooms are in the main building unless are ok being intimate with your neighbors. I felt bad when the Mexican food hit and had to use the bathroom. There is a crack above to toilet that went right to their rooms. Pretty wild going to bathroom for the first, hear a noise and saw them shut a window up there. Our room was 303 and faced the parking lot. I did not want these rooms to take away from their main building however. I'm sure they will have to rent these rooms separately to protect the main property ratings. Besides the he noises, the room was nice..just had to whisper the whole time.
Also, the rooftop is amazing. I like coffee. The coffee maker in my room was not working properly either. Bought coffee on the rooftop, expensive and not much. Charge per cup. The oxxo c-store right next to their building has good enough coffee and cheaper.
Also, we had to buy a couple big bottles of water where we stayed Looks like it's included in main building. She said she is putting a water station on ocean side property soon.
When they say it's just a 5 minute walk across the street... remember... That street is very busy and tough to cross sometimes. The main door is not solid, has glass which let's in a lot of light from hallway. If you like a dark room when you sleep, this could be an issue. You will see the door in the pics. Also in pics is the glass window above toilet with opening. I took another through opening and you can see another window up there. Not sure how to post pics here but they are posted on...
Read moreCasa Tortugas Boutique Hotel in Cancun, Mexico, is a hidden gem nestled in a quiet back street of the bustling hotel zone. As a family-owned and run small luxury guest house, it offers an intimate and personalized experience that sets it apart from the mainstream resorts in the area.
Upon arriving at Casa Tortugas, we were immediately struck by the beautiful décor that graced every corner of the hotel. The ambiance was both stylish and inviting, setting the tone for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We opted for a two-bedroom apartment that exceeded our expectations – spacious, well-equipped, and boasting a breathtaking view of the lagoon.
One of the standout features of Casa Tortugas is its location. Situated away from the chaos of the main hotel and resort area, the hotel provides a peaceful retreat while still offering convenient access to nearby attractions. A fantastic restaurant, Krudo, is just a short stroll away, providing an excellent dining option. Additionally, a substantial grocery store and market, Selecto, is easily reachable by a short Uber drive, ensuring that guests have access to all their needs.
What truly sets Casa Tortugas apart is the warm and welcoming atmosphere fostered by the family and staff. Alex and Paulina, in particular, played pivotal roles in making us feel like cherished house guests rather than mere visitors. From hosting the popular afternoon Margarita sunset bar to the new and instantly popular morning coffee, smoothie, and pastry bar on the rooftop, their hospitality was unparalleled. Alex, with his urbane charm, went above and beyond by recommending excellent restaurants and activities, enhancing our overall experience.
While it's unlikely we'll revisit Cancun soon, as there are countless destinations to explore, in an ideal world, every travel hotspot would have a Casa Tortugas. The attention to detail, personalized service, and genuine warmth make it a standout choice for those seeking a luxurious yet intimate retreat. I wholeheartedly recommend Casa Tortugas Boutique Hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and rejuvenating...

Here's what you need to know: Beautiful architectural details, artistic boutique flare, warm, friendly service, modern + minimal spacious rooms, fully equip kitchens, spectacular lagoon view and Infiniti pool lounge area, breathtaking rooftop with full bar service, snacks, and fresh ceviche. "A Hidden Gem" is accurate.
I stayed here for 3 weeks during my trip to Mexico and loved it. I was undergoing fertility treatments in DT Cancun, and the owners Cristina, Alejandro, and Alex took very good care of me. They treated me like family, checked in on me daily and went above and beyond in every way. I loved the fact that this is a family owned and operated business that they take great pride in their service, artistic expression, and experience they provide others.
The rooms are like little apartments with modern kitchen and amenities (as a designer and chef, I appreciated this a lot), very comfortable beds and linens (with lots of fluffy pillows!), multiple ceiling fans, AC, and large windows with amazing views. I felt so relaxed and at home here. It is not an all-inclusive experience, so this is perfect for those who like a more authentic Mexican experience, love to create their own adventures, and appreciate serenity and peace.
Casa Tortugas is conveniently located at the beginning of hotel zone in a tucked away spot right on the lagoon. It feels very private and safe. It is close to Marina Puerto Cancun Mall (a 7 minute drive), a 5 minute drive from the large grocery store (Chedraui), and right across the street from the local beach (Playa Tortugas) and the ferry to Isla Mujeres. There are parking spots right outside.
I can't wait to be back in Cancun in 2 months, and from now on when I am in Cancun, I will only stay at Casa Tortugas. Take a look at my photos - pictures do not do it justice. Stay at Casa Tortugas and you will know...
