My boyfriend (now fiancé) & I stayed at Hotel Riu Caribe Monday March 18th 2024-Monday March 25th, we had an absolutely incredible time. If I could rate the experience 6 stars I would. First off check in was very quick and went smoothly, they walked us through everything from the map of the grounds, the environmental fee and had mango welcome drinks upon check in. They also brought our bags up to the hotel room for us and Loui was VERY fast, we left the lobby at the exact same time as him and he beat us to the room and greeted us with a smile and walked us through every aspect of the room.
Our room was a Riu Party room that overlooked the party space which was very fun to watch them set up and take down the decorations for planned party nights and WOW they are fast at doing so. The room also had a large bathroom, key to the room turned on the lights which saves power and I love that environmental touch as well as a mini fridge that was re stocked every other day or even upon asking it to be restocked with different alcohol options as my Fiancé drinks beer and so they gave us extra and kept us stocked with plenty of water. They also decorated with cute towel animals every day when the room was cleaned and changed the sheets when we put a little plastic card on the bed asking to do so (to save water) which as a house cleaner I really appreciated as I know it truly does save a lot of water in the end.
The hotel grounds were newly renovated and BEAUTIFUL. Most of the time at an all inclusive you see a lot of cigarette butts or garbage or even dirty dishes but they were SO quick to clean it, there one second and gone the next. The artwork and decor in the hotel was also very well picked out to match whatever themed dinner or space you were in. Including the spa which had essential oils going all the time which set the mood, even on your way to the gym. The gym was tiny tho with limited space and only two working treadmills, the third was out of order so it turned us off from returning to the gym on the trip. The restaurants were great, the buffet and steak house were our favourites but the Mexican and Asian restaurants were nothing too exciting. But food was in abundance all around the resort. Even at the Riu parties, the food was great.
It is direct beach access with two infinity pools overlooking the ocean and one for scuba diving training/ water volleyball. The Scuba diving training was INCREDIBLE, I’m a nervous person in general and they were kind, gentle and walked us through absolutely everything from payment, online training, pool training and gave us two bottles of water each on the boat as well as took the most incredible photos of us on our excursion (highly recommend purchasing the photos). The Riu parties are wonderful, they start slow but quickly fill up and are wonderfully decorated, have LOTS of entertainment including go go dancers, acrobats, people on stilts, people in cool light up costumes and much much more. They are also ON TOP of security which I deeply appreciate. No dumb people got away with stupid things, that was shut down quick. And the smoking section although I don’t smoke had a beautiful photo spot overlooking the beach and the ocean.
We had such an amazing time that on the last night my boyfriend proposed to me on the rocky cliff side beside the hotel (in front of the other Riu hotel next door) which was a quick walk away but well worth the photo opportunity as it is STUNNING at sunset. The hotel once finding out we were newly engaged walked us through doing a late check out for the next day, gave us a delicious champagne (pear flavoured) and we were quickly given seating at the steakhouse for an amazing meal.
Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend Hotel Riu Caribe to anyone visiting Cancún. Many people who even came to the parties from other Rius in the area said “your hotel is way better than ours”. Amazing mixture of peaceful, fun and beautiful.
Thank you very much Hotel Riu Caribe!! We...
Read moreThis hotel is just fantastic! We could not fault it all, from check in to check out, everything was just brilliant. Myself, my husband and 17 year old daughter had the best 2 week holiday whilst staying at the Riu Caribe.|We stayed in a twin double room on the 8th floor which was large, airy & spacious with an amazing sea view. Room cleaned daily to high standards and was very well appointed. Some may find the double beds on the small side, but I shared with my daughter and it was plenty big enough for us (and hubby was happy with a bed to himself!)|We found all the staff very friendly and welcoming – nothing seemed too much trouble for them. There is always someone cleaning something and as a result everywhere is spotlessly clean. Food was just fantastic, we really enjoyed it all. Although many of the same dishes did appear on nightly basis – there is so much choice that you still can end up having something different every night of a 2 week stay. We tried the steakhouse and Shangri-la a la carte restaurants (no booking required it’s just luck on whether there’s a table free or not). The Shangri-la was amazing and definitely our favourite meal of the holiday. It’s a buffet style restaurant, but everything cooked fresh and it’s just delicious. There’s an extensive range of drinks available – not all of the spirits are branded, but I was more than happy with the gin and the house rose wine and draught beer was very drinkable. There is also quite an extensive cocktail menu which you will need to access via scanning the QR code. Israel, who serves drinks round the pool from his cart is just a delight! He’s so bright and cheery and I looked forward to my afternoon Margarita being served with such a sunny smile.|The hotel does enforce a strict no under 18 drinking policy and anyone under the age of 18 gets a different coloured wrist band. As a result my 17 year daughter, who is a month off her 18th birthday was ‘tagged’ as a child! This also meant she was unable to attend the Riu parties and there was no sneaking her in because wristbands were checked!|For anyone who is concerned about the parties affecting their holiday – don’t be! The party zone is off to one side and you’d barely notice them going off.|The entertainment team work really hard – there’s always some activity going off during the day, but there’s no pressure to join in if you want to be lazy and just relax. There are evening shows 5 times a week – we enjoyed these and thought they were really good. Without a doubt the ‘Crazy Show’ by the entertainment team was the best, but the Silent Disco was very enjoyable too. All evening entertainment is in the indoor Calypso bar which is nicely air conditioned. The seating in the lobby bar is very comfortable, but can get pretty warm, so the Sports bar is a nice cool respite. It can get very busy in there though – especially when the evening shows or parties finish.|The pools are lovely and very well maintained – although they do feel on the warm side so for a cooler refreshing dip the sea is the best. The beach is just stunning – gorgeous powder soft white sand and the sea is beautifully clear. Some days are worse than others for seaweed – but even on the days when there is a lot of it washing up, there are guys out on the beach working tirelessly to clear it, so this is not an issue at all and do not be put off by it. |There is an onsite shop in the hotel and with most hotel shops things are more expensive – but they have a great range of lovely gifts & souvenirs.|We didn’t use the spa facilities – we did look at the treatments, but thought it was pretty expensive. Over £100 for a deep tissue massage! Hubby used the gym everyday – it’s small but well equipped. And it was almost always empty when he went (late afternoon) so he had no problems with getting a decent work out.|All in all – everything was just fabulous and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. I certainly would have no hesitation in...
Read moreIf you actually want to have a good time and service is important to you, DO NOT COME HERE!!! I planned this trip months in advance as I would be celebrating my 25th birthday and purchasing at least 6 rooms to bring 13 guests. For weeks leading up to the reservation, I emailed and called reception because it was a large group — I wanted to be able to ensure we could eat dinner together, have our rooms together, and arrange birthday decorations for the room among other things… The emails went unanswered, calls were sent to the call center who assured me not to worry, that if I hadn’t got a response I could make these requests in person. Fast forward to our arrival, what a joke. We paid for airport transfers — didn’t get an airport transfer because these people swear you’re trying to scam them which is insane. We tell them we have 4 people to be picked up from Terminal 3 and another 7 from Terminal 4…. These people tell us A. they don’t see that many people on a reservation (even though I had called 7 days in advance to give them arrival/departure times along with flight numbers) B. it was going to take an hour PLUS to even be picked up. So, we ended up calling our own van, and was never refunded or even apologized to for the inconvenience. Once we finally arrived to the actual resort, we went to check in just to find out that the 6 rooms we purchased, meant to be together, were literally on different floors and different sides of the resort and on top of that, front desk reception wasn’t even willing to change anything and would rather have a nasty attitude than actually try to be accommodating. What was even funnier was that, once we complained for an hour — MIRACULOUSLY, we were able to get 4 rooms together. Funny how that works. The only problem is because they hadn’t done it correctly, our wifi codes were messed up and there were wrong names on the wrong rooms — something I tried to prevent by EMAILING WEEKS PRIOR. Now, the actual resort itself is nice, food is pretty mid but not absolutely horrible. Drinks are… I don’t even know 😬 As I was celebrating my birthday there, obviously, I wanted the room decorated… Something we later found out would cost $200 despite no one else having that same experience and the resort never telling us that BECAUSE THEY NEVER RESPONDED! On my actual birthday, all I wanted was to be able to have dinner with my entire party at the steakhouse. They tell us they don’t do reservations… Okay, fine. They say it could be a 45 minute wait… Okay, fine. We get down there rather early to put our names on the list, we speak to the host and from what we understand, he has put us down and we all were waiting next to the host stand for the table, literally, 13 people standing next to the host stand. So time is just passing and passing, we are seeing people get seated and finally after an hour, we’re like hi when will we be getting seated? The host then tells us, he never put us down and that we would then have to wait ANOTHER 45 minutes to an hour. Mind you, this man is being extremely combative, laughing, joking, and blatantly ignoring us while trying to seat other people even though we are standing in his face with an unresolved problem. We then get security called on us, for literally no reason. So, we decide to eat dinner off the resort — which is quite literally the exact opposite of the point of booking an all inclusive. We try to go to the airport via shuttle to go home. The man didn’t believe that we had bought 7 airport transfers and wasted 30 minutes arguing with us and then we spent another hour waiting for the shuttle… Of course, we missed our flights. Had to pay another $500-$1000 to get home. Money that we will never get back. Despite paying for transfers MONTHS IN ADVANCE. In conclusion, save yourself the grief. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!! Especially, if you’ve had nice, accommodating experiences before, this is absolutely NOT the place where you will get that....
