Family trip – Mid-June (Low Season, Very Quiet)
Hotel: The hotel was clean, comfortable, and had great access to the ocean. The rooms were well-equipped for cooking, and the beds were excellent—very comfortable and restful.
Pool Bar: The biggest downside of our stay was the service at the pool bar. It opens at 10 a.m., but regardless of what or when we ordered, drinks consistently took 40 to 60 minutes to arrive. On our first day, we ordered six mojitos at 9:55 a.m. and didn’t receive them until 10:45 a.m.—and we were the only people at the pool. Unfortunately, this continued daily with no improvement, even when tipping generously at the start of the day. Often, we ended up picking up our own drinks (still 45 minutes to make) despite being told they would be brought to us. That said, the food at the pool bar was pretty good—pizza, guacamole, and ceviche were fresh and tasty. Also, only about 40 people total in the pool area including kids too empty for those kinds of wait.
Restaurant: We ate at the main restaurant twice. • The first time, we waited about 30 minutes to place our order and another 60 minutes for the food to arrive. Drinks didn’t show up until nearly 50 minutes after we were seated. While the food was decent, it came out in waves, about 10 minutes apart, so some people at our table started eating at 9 p.m., while others didn’t get their meals until 9:30 p.m.—and the restaurant wasn’t even busy. • The second visit was a buffet with meat cooked to order. Unfortunately, the warmers weren’t turned on, so most of the food was cold and lacked seasoning. The meat was not cooked the way most of us order and also arrived cold. Drinks took up to an hour (the kids got theirs 1 hour and 15 minutes after we were seated). Again, food came out in long intervals—four people in our group waited 80 minutes for their meat, which was again cooked wrong. At $30 dollars per person, it was disappointing. And the place was empty, no reason for the delays.
We are still here, but cooking our own food and bringing...
Read moreGreat value but with a warning: their website makes it look like they are all beach facing rooms - they are not. I paid for a premium room, and the view was of the street behind the hotel. I had to argue to get moved, they put us in a "lagoon view" room - which was the same room same side but just up two floors. Great view of the street again and partial lagoon view.
I tried talking to them, then finally resorted to threatening to get moved to an ocean view room.
Then all was good. So after all that:
Great hotel for the price. You are at the very very very end of the strip and cannot walk to anywhere, but Uber is really cheap there.
The breakfast was expensive, but the grill by the ocean / pool was really reasonable. $6 drinks and food was normal for American pricing, not gouging like a beach in the States. And the food and drinks were GREAT!
Tough to find a cup of coffee. They had a cafe but it didn't open early. The breakfast restaurant on site gave us a hard time for just buying coffee, and dude made us promise to come back for breakfast before he sold us any coffee. Weird. And no, we didn't go back for breakfast. Lol.
The gift shop- you can get food, liquor, etc and it was pricey for Mexico but not expensive like the US.
Staff was helpful and nice, not terrific, but really good.
We went in July and the pool was HOT not warm but HOT so that was not expected and also not refreshing.
First room was not great, some cigarette burns on the bedding and couch. The second room was good, and the beachfront room was great. Kitchen with everything you need, and very spacious. It was actually just two rooms from a previous hotel that they merged to make one double sized room. A little weird - we had two front doors. It was literally adjoining rooms made into one suite. But...
Read moreWe have had an excellent stay so far. The facilities are beautiful and well maintained and the beach here is gorgeous and kept clean as well. It's at the quiet end of the hotel one so not great if you're looking to party but still accessible to the bar scene by cab for about $25 USD and really cheap local tourist bus $1 for a trip in to the center of the tourist area. Security at the gate is stringent so excellent if you worry about stranger access and terrible if you want friends and family to come visit you. There have been some issues with our room. The stove didn't work for the first 4 days of our 8 day stay so very frustrating. They finally fixed it on the day they offered to switch us to another room. We didn't bother as it would have been a hassle to round up all our stuff but they did offer to give us staff to help with the transfer. The staff has been kind and helpful with the exception of one senior food service guy who wasn't helpful with a billing issue due to a communication problem at the pool bar. Eventually a higher level manager worked it out but it was an unpleasant blip in an otherwise lovely stay. Gina, the activities gal in the beach area was stupendous. So sweet and fun and energetic the whole day leading a variety of games and classes. Loved the beachside blackjack table and bracelet making class. I wasn't wild about the premade piña colada mix used at the pool bar. Just like in so many other tourist destinations around the world, the beverages now contain artificial sweeteners that bar tenders and staff don't even know are there. The barman kindly mixed up a totally natural and fresh margarita that...
