I stayed at this hotel last year 2015 in July. My stay was for a little over a week and it was an all girls trip for my best friend and I. We read reviews about the staff being great and read on their website that they have air conditioning in all rooms. The front desk was very nice and even asked if we would like an ocean view or a pool view. They told us that dinner had already ended but if we want we could still go in and get a little bit of dinner while they get our rooms set up. We traveled from New Jersey and had a very long layover in Texas so we were very tired. We got a small bite to eat and the food was good. We got up to our room and I asked the lady how do I turn on the air-conditioning because it was very hot and muggy in our room her response was "no air here fan". Me and my best friend immediately got on the phone and tried to cancel our trip and get our money back so that we can go to another hotel. They tried calling the front desk and they wouldn't answer. I called down to the front desk and I had Clearview of the man sitting at the front desk and he did not answer the phone. When I went down there to speak to him about it he refused to return any of our money. Our room was all steamed up the walls were even sweating and there were some really disgusting stains all over our beds. We got through the first night and by sleeping on top of our beach towels on top of the beds. It cools off at night so lucky for us we had extra towels that we covered up with. There were no other hotels available for the week that we were there so we decided to just make the best of it. The pool was very clean but the beach was not. If you're looking for a beach chair make sure you get up earlier in the morning so that you have one otherwise you will not have a place to lay down. All of the staff is really nice and there's a certain bartender that make sure he gives you the good stuff he's normally in the lobby. When I asked some of the staff if the air conditioning would be fixed they told me it has been out for over a year. The place is really run down and the maids mop with a white towel and a stick. They don't even have real mobs and I feel so bad because the staff is such great people. My friend and I decided to go out one night with a couple people that we had met at the hotel and the night life is amazing it's about 60 bucks to get into some places per person but all the alcohol is free. If you look online you will be able to find some places and get your tickets early. The only downfall is upon us arriving back to the hotel all the lights were out. At midnight they pretty much turn off all of the lights in the hotel and it's hard to see to get around. Lucky for us our hotel room was not hard to find. It's pretty sad when you have to look out your balcony to see this amazing view of an ocean and see a beach full of Lights from other hotels and you're the crappy one with no lights on. If you're looking for great staff only then this is the best place to be but if you're looking for some AC and a very clean room I suggest you look elsewhere. I would never stay in this hotel again unless it was only for a night to see the stuff...

We booked a room at Oleo for a overnight stay before heading to Tulum. The main reason we choose it was because it was Valentines, and we didn't want to stay at a airport hotel. We had to go back to the airport the next day to take another shuttle (that actually existed) to Tulum. It says on the Oleo website that they provide a "free airport shuttle" and that made it our deciding factor to spend more on the hotel since we didn't have to pay for transportation. Oleo was a VERY frustrating experience. I made the reservation on their website 3 days in advance like they request to qualify for the shuttle. I sent a message to confirm on their website, no reply. The day before our arrival the hotel called me to confirm that we would indeed arrive since it was a busy day and I said yes, we will be there. We paid our deposit. She said it doesn't work like that in Mexico. We were a little nervous about our reservation really existing. When I asked to confirm about a pickup at the airport, the woman asked me if I booked it on another website like tripadvisor or expedia? I said no, I booked it on your website. She said I should have sent a message. I told her I did. She then said that it was just to difficult to arrange, and I should take a taxi ($50 us+tip) but no problem to get a shuttle back to the airport from the hotel. Not wanting to start off our trip with negativity, we got the taxi. Asked about the return shuttle on the check in, and again, did you book your reservation on another website? I said no, it was yours. After several minutes of the women talking on the phone she said no problem, we will have a shuttle for you. Our room was nice enough with a ocean view but the windows were FILTHY. We were near the hotels giant ac unit so it was EXTREMELY noisy. The hotel was sold out so we didn't ask to be moved, we already spent enough time waiting to hear about the stupid shuttle. The food was fine. Nelson in the dining room was very nice and had great service. It is a small resort which we like. The people are friendly as long as you aren't trying to get a shuttle. In the morning we inquired several hours before we were to leave to confirm about the shuttle since it still sounded iffy. AGAIN...what website did you book your reservation on? AGAIN a major run around. We did not get a shuttle from Oleo. We paid another $25 us. for a taxi. That was $75.00 more that we had to spend that we shouldn't have. We have been to Mexico many times, we are polite, friendly, patient people. We tip well. This review is not only about the $. It's about the frustrating way we spent too much time on our Valentines and start our vacation. We will NOT be returning...

This hotel and the staff are incredible. It is located at the south end of the hotel zone. It is 15 minutes from the airport.

By the end of our second day, it seemed the entire staff knew our names and greeted us by name. The pool bartender even knew our drinks.

The servers in the restaurants brought our drinks without even asking what we wanted. It was like they were all but psychic.

The manager Martine (sic) approached me twice to inquire about our stay out of the blue. He knew my face, our room number and where we had eaten our meals. Absolutely incredible !!

The restaurant maitre d' s knew our likes and dislikes, where my wife liked to sit, even which side of the table she liked. I cannot say enough about the staff. They work like a family. To a person, they were always smiling and saying hello, even the groundskeepers.

When people would walk along the grass lined paths, they would stop their mowers and weedwackers to let them pass.

The physical plant of the hotel is a work almost completed. The new lobby and entryway was only days from being done on our last day. I am disappointed we were not able to see it completed.

The rooms are all new, renovated or both. Everything was clean and sparkling.

We had one issue and almost as soon as I was off the phone requesting a service person, he was knocking at the door to help. The lighting problem was fixed immediately. WOW

The beach was deep sand and the staff fought a constant battle with the seaweed being blown up by the abnormally high onshore winds during our stay. Other than the seaweed the beach was clean, no trash, no nothing. Always orderly and well maintained

The pool deck was always clean and well organized as well.

There are four restaurants at the facility. Two have staggered schedules, but there always seemed to be available tables.

The best meal we had by far was the Rack of Lamb from Al Mar Restaurant, an Italian themed restaurant. Second place was a tie between Shrimp Tempura appetizer and Vegetable Tempura from Hakka, a Japanese themed restaurant. Although I am not a Maki/ Sushi person, their offerings were well received by the other patrons.

The entertainment director was a very busy man, there were events daily and almost every hour during the day and most evenings. He is very good at his job.

What didn't we like ? The BD Travel reps were a little too aggressive trying to get us to go on trips and outings away from the hotel. We had just arrived and they were on us immediately. We just wanted to get a drink and unwind from the flight, not get inundated with daily excursion offers and plans. Hey BD Travel guys and girls too much...
