We escaped the Alberta winter for a 2 month stay in Mismaloya. This was our first visit to the village and had no expectations other than great weather. On a walk along the main road we were greeted by Hector at the entrance to El Patio Del Cuale. He was so friendly and welcoming that we promised to return later for a refreshment and a bite. What a great find. We learned some useful information about the neighborhood and enjoyed some great Mexican hospitality. The World Cup soccer tournament was happening in Qatar. We were searching for a local to watch the games. Especially games featuring Mexico and Canada. Hector brought a TV in from Home. We enjoyed most of the games at El Patio and met some of the locals. Great fun. In a nutshell, El Patio has been our go to for excellent food, Margaritas, cervezas and good times. I highly recommend a visit while you're in the area. You are sure to stop in more than once.

This open-air restaurant is beautifully nestled among mango trees with the soothing sound of a creek running behind it, creating a serene, tropical ambiance that immediately sets it apart.
We dined here multiple times—once as a couple and again as a group of six, and found the layout perfect for both intimate and larger gatherings. The menu rivals that of a high-end coastal Mexican restaurant, but at a fraction of the price. Despite the elevated food quality, the environment remains incredibly laid-back and welcoming.
Breakfast here was a standout. The banana pancakes alone are worth writing home about; they were fluffy, flavorful, and unforgettable. El Patio Del Cuale ended up being the highlight of our vacation. If you're in Mismaloya,...
Read moreIn 2021 we came here every day of our trip for breakfast or lunch. Sometimes both! Three years later, on a cruise with my extended family, we stopped off in Puerto Vallarta. We knew where to go! We made everyone get in a taxi and head 40 minutes up the hill to Mismaloya.
El Patio Del Cuale was even better than we remembered. The owners cook the food, and everything is incredible! Plus the atmosphere is beautiful, right next to the river.
Out of the thirteen people in our family, most mentioned El Patio as a highlight of their trip, and my husband and I felt pretty cool for knowing about this hidden gem.
We also went to the zoo and the beach that day. Mislmaloya is an adorable town, and the best place we went in all of our Mexico cruise for authenticity, beauty,...
