I'm fond of this place, so let me elaborate with a bit of context first. I found my way to this hostel by reading reviews of hostels in the area. Those in the $10-15 range had poor reviews, but upon my arrival here, the reception was great. The host, Camilo, was very friendly and down to earth. He gave me a proper tour from downstairs to the roof, went over the etiquette, helped me connect to WiFi, showed me how to key into the building, and answered all my questions.
The shared room was spacious, with clean linens, and each bunk had its own locker. I would have appreciated an extension cord to each bed to charge our cell phones and an extra quilt and towel. The towels are a bit worn out, but they're clean, and I'm sure they'll be replaced as necessary. The restroom was surprisingly nice—clean shower curtains, a spacious layout, and steaming hot water. Freezing water is such a downer, so I loved this!
The rooftop is currently undergoing renovation, but it was still nice to look out over the area and enjoy the night sky on the couch. There's a space to cook, a fridge for food, and the common area downstairs, though limited, is comfortable. I also want to add that I felt very secure here. The locks on the metal door at the entrance seemed adequate, and there are cameras inside. Outside the hostel, there’s an Orange gym, a 7-Eleven, and a taco joint. For the price, I think this is...
Read moreSo bad one of the worst places iv ever stayed. This place looked super nice and we were hoping it would be a nice romantic place to chill in the city, but no it turned into a nightmare, it was very disappointing,
Turns out the owner hosts parties here everyday!!! The only usable space is your room, because the rest of the place is full of random people that arnt staying there for random events. Forget using the dining room, bar or the lounge room!! It for the parties. It is ruthless they start early and go till late at night, twice i had to go down and tell them to shut up. Plus if you go get a coffee or tea they look at you like your some kind of alien living in the attic.
We had people walking into our room (lock your room!) trying to cook dinner with groups of people walking past to party on the roof. (Plus the kitchen is a joke one induction hot plate with 10 pots only one that is induction) Toilets were always full, at one point we had to wait for a line of drunk mexicans before we could brush our teeth. I cant explain how weird this place is.
The water ran out twice!!!! we had to wash with a rag and a bucket (they arnt using the tanks so if there is a town water problem you cant even do a poo) honestly get your selfs together.
On a positive note the owner is really nice, but pick something its a hotel/hostel or a nightclub you cant have it all. Or you get a...
Read moreThe staff was excellent. The rooftop is adorable. The neighborhood is so cute but I kept having trouble finding it for whatever reason. The pillow was my favorite kind. The food smelled yummy but I didn't have any. I liked that there was an older clientele when I visited. One woman in my dorm was younger but she was a staff member. We all were in bed before 1am on a weeknight, so not completely boring but very respectful :)
It was also nice having people who were dining coming in to socialize. One even helped me practice my Spanish while I was working on the roof. Some things to expect: Be careful with the hot pipes along the wall when you go up and down the stairs. The towels are a little dingy. The construction nearby is loud but that's hard to avoid, at least they started after 8. If you want to be near a plug on the roof but out of the sun start earlier in the day. I still give this place 5 stars because it was safe, friendly, clean, and cute! Thanks to one of the staff who helped me bring my luggage all the way to...
