This small hotel (ten rooms) is located a short walk from the main square, cathedrals and many restaurants. The staff are very welcoming and helpful and the property is very well maintained. The king bedrooms are medium sized and the bathrooms very compact. However, everything is beautifully furnished, very modern and spotlessly clean. Some of the gadgets are so modern the staff cannot get them to work and when we couldn’t get the TV to work with the remote control in the room that controls everything: lights, TV etc they ended up bringing us the more conventional TV controls! The bathrooms are well equipped with lovely toiletries (L’Occtaine). However, housekeeping need more training as they do not replace items that are finished and actually put the empty containers back! I had to go to the front desk for refills which were brought promptly but at this price level it should happen automatically. There was both a traditional hot Mexican breakfast offered on the terrace as well as a more traditional American/European breakfast. The food was very good but the team of two struggled to cope when more than a couple of tables arrived at once and ordered a la carte vs eating the buffet breakfast. They also were not prepared when the hotel of ten rooms was at full capacity e.g. only one bowl of fresh fruit was chopped and ready. Then when more was needed they prepared it in front of us. It was definitely fresh but made what should have been a quick breakfast way too long. A similar story with the coffee and filling up the coffee pots, which was also rarely hot (mainly warm by the time we had it) except for the last day. The restaurant team worked very hard each morning and were very charming. They just need either more staff and perhaps more training on coping when at the hotel is at full capacity. The hotel offers a complimentary airport pick up and drop off which we used. We had a comfortable stay here and the staff are fantastic. I hope they resolve the above minor issues/annoyances because they have priced themselves at the top end...
Read moreOur group of 13 stayed here for a special birthday/Day of the dead celebrations. The hotel is the perfect size to accomodate that size and give everyone a beautiful room |(I looked at them all :) as well as being well situated to walk everywhere. ||Check in was seamless and the rooms are spacious and very modern. The bed was super comfortable with plenty of pillows (thank you!) and while the air con was nice to use after a hot day out, I liked keeping the windows open for fresh air. The bathroom was huge with a big rainshower head, good sized towels and plenty of room to put your toiletries.| It was surprisingly quiet at night given all the crazy celebrations going on, though I could hear staff a bit in the early morning preparing breakfast (kitchen on main floor - dining upstairs in the bar area). Speaking of breakfast, they were AMAZING - all homemade, classic mexican dishes - so delicious and fresh. Other options such as cereal, yogurt and fresh fruit were also available. Everyday was different and so tasty.||This is not an inexpensive hotel but it is one of the best I have ever stayed in on so many levels.|A big shout out to the staff who helped us in so many ways and were so friendly every single time. thank you, thank...
Read moreWe stayed here for almost a week during a school spring break and had a good time. The rooms are clean and spacious and the location was great. You can walk to anywhere. The service, however, is friendly and adequate but not particularly amazing. It didn't matter for us because we had done so much research heading into the trip, my sister who we were with spoke Spanish and we had ideas about what we wanted to do. ||I think this hotel would be a great base for anyone who wants to explore Oaxaca and is comfortable largely on their own. But it might be disappointing if you needed to take advantage of concierge services. For example, when we asked them for their restaurant recommendations (out of curiosity), they pointed us to very touristy and crazy expensive places (as opposed to restaurants on our own list provided by friends who spent multiple summers in here). ||The breakfast was just adequate. The coffee frankly terrible (tasted like it might have been instant). We had it the first morning and then went out the other mornings (There's an excellent, excellent coffee/breakfast...
