We stopped here around 9pm on a beautiful Sunday evening, the street was blocked off to allow for the restaurants and shops to expand in to the road, everything was wonderfully lit and incredibly comfortable. Every single person we encountered that worked here was very pleasant and wonderful to talk to. There was music playing from inside the restaurant but it was at a good volume, not too loud to where you couldn’t have a conversation at your table. The food: we started with them bringing three salsas and a small bowl of chips, all three were very tasty, and the young waiter made sure to point out that the spicy one was spicy… which I did in fact confirm that yep it was spicy! We also ordered the guacamole which was very good. We ordered the shrimp and rice which came with vegetables, and the cochinta pibil which came with a whole stack of warm tortilla shells and a bowl of beans. The shrimp and rice was cooked perfectly, the vegetables weren’t mushy and had a bit of a buttery garlic flavor. The cochinita pibil, if I ever need to order my final meal in this life I definitely going to ask them to come to this restaurant and get me two or three bowls of this. It hit my craving and knocked it straight out. Wonderful flavor, wonderful texture and it had this incredible tangy sweet flavor to it. I give it 70000 stars out of ten. If you’re still here after all this rambling, do I recommend visiting this restaurant if you find yourself wandering the streets of puerto Morelos on a beautifully warm night… hell yes I do. All the way across the board a fantastic, wonderful dining experience. All in all (we had two coca colas and a sparkling water) (we had to take a break from the beer and mezcalita’s) I think our bill was $54 US dollars for the drinks, appetizer and two dinners. To me it was worth...

Peninsula sets the standard for what Mexican cuisine, especially seafood, should be. We have traveled in Mexico City, Oaxaca, Merida, and many other places and this restaurant was one of my favorite spots we have been.
The chef, Max, personally greeted us and gave recommendations (black ceviche and tuna tostadas - highly recommend both). We started with some mezcalitas on their 2 for 1 deal and they know how to make a very good drink.
The black ceviche was delicious and the esquites were fantastic as well. I LOVED the tuna tostadas. As I told Max, his food is not only beautiful but also delicious. It’s what a culinary experience should be.
We loved this restaurant so much we came back the next night for live music on the rooftop. It was a chill, laid back vibe with a guitarist playing and it is exactly the atmosphere I love for the perfect evening with drinks and food. We tried some flavored mezcalitas and the Caribbean ceviche that had mango - again, some of the most amazing seafood I’ve had in Puerto Morelos, and most of Mexico too. Huuuge portion too for the price.
I unfortunately do not remember the name of the server who took care of us on the rooftop that evening but he was so exceptional and really went above and beyond.
I would recommend Peninsula to anyone looking for an upscale but relaxed atmosphere with the best food in Puerto Morelos. We will be back EVERY time we visit - thank you Max and all your...
Read moreI have been wanting to try this restaurant since it opened and had many expectations as a result. It was easy to make a reservation and it was wonderful they could accommodate our larger group on the rooftop. However, we were seated at a high top table, which was not the best for our elders’ comfort. We all ordered drinks to start. They came at varying intervals. We ordered food next. The items that came were just okay. Nothing was amazing. I had cochinita pibil. I wanted to compare it to the one made by our household staff. The one served here was flavorless and uninspired. Throughout, our server was completely incompetent. I don’t know how the restaurant can employ such a dolt!! For example, a glass of wine we ordered was poured by the bartender and set on the bar. He walked by it multiple times before we finally asked another man if he could bring it over. Of note: even on the rooftop, you will be eaten alive by the mosquitoes!! We come to Puerto Morelos every year and unfortunately, this restaurant will not be on the list...
