El Pesquero Puerto Morelos — Restaurant in Puerto Morelos

Our favourite place in Puerto Morelos!! We stumbled across this kind of hidden gem just a block from the beach but behind other restaurants right on the beach. Puerto Morelos has great seafood, but when it comes to prices, service and what you get when you just sit down? Hands down the best !! Jesus took care of us the first time and he’s his namesake. Wonderful service. The portions are worth the larger ticket items and original local foods serve as sides, not just your routine rice and boiled veggies as sides as with some other restaurants that charge more. Once you sit down, you get at least 4-5 complimentary local apps- fried beans, nachos, salsa, a lovely rich seed mixture which tastes like peanuts and a hint of sweet, cucumber and jicama soaked in lime and salt…..that’s to being with!!! That’s service . We ordered ( so far) the shrimp quesadillas ( lots of cheese with ample flavoured shrimp) 3 of them for an app order also comes with sour cream, guacamole, and more salsa!! It’s enough for two or three to share as an app. My partner had the mixote seafood, which is a gigantic deep tomato flavoured seafood medley in a corn husk, served with ridiculously lovely sides. We want to come back and try everything...

I came here twice last week, the restaurant has has very local vibe, mostly local customers. It has a bare sand floor, open concept, wood framed, bar on the side, friendly and attentive staff with a kids play area in the back.

They brought nacho chips with a thick Yucatan sauce and fresh salsa for the dip on the side with slices of limon, very tasty.

I had catch of the day and seafood tower the second visit, both were tasty however the seafood tower was succulent, tender and delicious, I couldn’t finish it.

Everything was great except the regular house margarita I ordered, it was tasteless until I squeezed the limes that were on my table. I should have ordered the premium.

Great surroundings. The tables are well spaced and staff is attentive. There's a playground for kids at the far end of the seating area, near el baños, so adults can eat and talk and the kids can be happily occupied . The food is well cooked, fresh and flavourful, and a very nice variety. In addition to the usual basket of chips, there are various condiments supplied -- all yummy! So, all in all, a delicious meal at a great price. Good service, relaxed atmosphere with sand under your feet, and really nice way to spend lunch or dinner with friends and family. We...
