I had very high hopes for this resort after all my experiences at its sister resorts, but already on day two here this has one disappointment after another. I’m in a group with three rooms and 5 adults/3 kids. When we booked months ago, was asked specifically for rooms that were located near each other (we already knew it’d be difficult for them to guarantee we would all be right next to each other). When we arrived to check in, we were informed that we were all in different buildings and on different floors. The agent who checked us in was nice and offered a solution, but that solution ended up being: two families can stay in one 2 bedroom suite/villa, and one family in a separate room in a different building on the other side of the water park area. We felt compelled to accept the offer because we wanted to be close to each other. However, we had to pay hundreds of dollars extra because they called it an “upgrade.” They tried to convince us it’s worth it by saying we all will get VIP/Preferred Club access (even though we don’t drink so there’s limited value to us). I specifically asked if the whole party will get the access and was assured we all would get it (including my family, which took the separate room). Lo and behold, this morning, I tried to access the Preferred Club amenities and was denied while the families who took the villa did have access.

It seems like they’ve bit off more than they can chew—there are 6 weddings here this weekend, according to the check-in agent, so the hotel is very full. In addition to our room location issues, another guest who checked in just before us ended up coming back down to the front desk because the room she was given was occupied by other guests. That’s an unacceptable situation for both the new guests and the ones who already had the room and experienced someone walking right in on them.

The pools are nice and the beach is relatively clean. So that is nice. Beach was not overcrowded. The rooms are fine (obviously the villa is nicer than the room in building 7). The AC in the villa was not working last night. Hopefully that’s fixed today.

The food is very hit-or-miss. Buffet food is pretty subpar with limited veggie and seafood options (we are pescatarian/vegetarian). The hotel doesn’t have the staffing to manage the volume of guests it has. There are long waits to get seated to eat and once seated, table service is incredibly slow. Today we opted to eat lunch on the go. First we tried That’s a Wrap. We stopped in about an hour after opening. The kids wanted grilled cheese, but the restaurant had already run out of sandwich bread. So we went to Tides. With several empty tables, there was a 30-minute wait to be seated. Since my parents are diabetic, we decided just to order food to-go. That was a 35-minute wait but at least we’d get our food then, and not just getting seated. We ordered 3 cheese quesadillas, 2 nachos w/out meat, and 4 shrimp quesadillas. It took about 55 minutes. We finally got the food and brought it back to our seats only to find that the shrimp quesadillas were actually chicken and the nachos had beef in them. At least they got the cheese quesadillas right. So we had to walk back to Tides with the stacks of plates and bowls. When we said the order was wrong, the server’s first reaction was “but you started eating it.” We had not (nor should that matter). We only lifted the Saran Wrap off one of the quesadillas and were about to eat it but my nephew realized it was chicken and put it right down. After some back and forth, the hostess who took my order acknowledged it was their mistake. She said the food will be ready in 10-15 minutes. Unsurprisingly, the food was not ready for closer to 25-30 minutes. Again, the restaurant was at maybe 50% capacity this whole time. And you’d think they’d prioritize the people who were waiting 1 hour and 40 minutes to eat.

I truly hope my family’s experience improves over the next two days that we are here. I heard really good things about this resort and am so disappointed that I can’t share...

Just returned from a family trip here with my husband and 2 children ages 7 &12. Non Preferred Check in was quick and staff super friendly. The bell boy helped us to our room.

We opted for pool view room, which we got but it only over looked the kids pool/water slides area. So I asked to change and we were put in building 7 closes to the pool in the middle with a partial sea view. Room was cool from the AC. It didn’t feel damp unless you left balcony doors open and then the floors and mirror would create condensation from the humidity as the AC automatically will turn off. Some people complain of this but if you keep doors shut then there is no problem. As for smell from humidity it’s normal in these countries. But yet people still complain when it can’t be helped. Rooms are very spacious, very clean and the turn down service is lovely. Mini bar is stocked with beer(SOL) soft drinks, bottled water and we didn’t get a small bottle of whiskey at one point too.

Room service was good.

World cafe had lots of variety and something for everyone. Maris for lunch was so good! Mezez- Really nice Fusion/Hibatchi- not much variety but still nice. The hibachi show was the worst I’ve ever been too. Again food still good though. Gaucho- Least favourite, nice but slow to take meat around. Tres colours- Taco station was some of best taco I’ve eaten. Tides-for lunch was good too. (Nachos) They have BBQ every other day around the pools - very good ! That’s a wrap- so good , like a their own version of subway. Also has fresh cans of soft drinks, beer and water in fridges. Chicken ceaser salads and more just to quickly take. Coffee/ ice cream- very good.

Coconut stations around 3pm - one per family.

Most drinks/cocktails - strong and good, we don’t drink beer but it’s in cans, not draft beer.

Entertainment Team- Carlos, Edwardo, gustavo, Memo, Jesus, felix , Sebastian & Antonio !! All amazing, these all made our holiday so much better. Kept everyone entertained and are very enthusiastic. Games , braclet making and beer pong in pools, volleyball, soccer on the beach & lots more !

Free kayaking on beach - check daily activities.

Around 1pm around the main pool they have bands, live violinists (our favourite) and same man for saxophonist was amazing !! They also have acrobatics, African dances - all very good.

Evening entertainment was okay and kept my youngest entertained but think it could be better, it just wasn’t WOW. We was there for 14 nights so seen acts twice so this should be different each week. The fire show at beach was my favourite and the Acado event in the main garden was something else, everything BBQ outside , welcome cocktails, entertainment! And just great service. Spin bar for adults was good but they do tend to repeat the same songs each night. Lobby bar entertainment for live violinist, saxophonist, bands & singers were a lovely touch and enjoyed them all.

Kids club - My kids are almost 13 & 8 and I’ve never allowed them to go to kids club as I just didn’t feel like I trusted them. But this time my 8 year old insisted. I checked on her 3 time in 2 hours and she told me to leave. She loved every minute there. They do craft, pizza making, cookie making, movie afternoon, face painting and lots more. I’ve never felt so safe at a resort. Even the cleaner was not allowed in unless staff buzzed them in to unlock the door and I’ve been to plenty plus the staff were so lovely and spoke good English. -Teen club- Was great only my son liked to stay with us. He did like basketball there though. There is archery, wall climbing, tennis, giant chess/jenga. Xbox, air hockey, just lots to do. Movie night is here most nights around 7:30pm.

On site shop/markets are very expensive but i expected this as it’s a convenience.

Lots of gecko’s & lizards around the resort and my kids loved them and named them.

We used bottles water to brush our teeth and always do when visiting other countries.

We had a fantastic time here and could not fault the hotel. The grounds were beautiful...

First the positive: The resort is very nice looking, clean and the gardeners do a great job. The rooms are very spacious and very nice with a jacuzzi on the balconies! We were unfortunately not able to use the sofa in our balconies, because we had rooms on the top floor, and it is not roof over the whole balcony, so the sofas were already soaked by rain when we got here, and never dried. The entertainment team is great, special thanks to Mario. The beach is also nice, and the service in the beachbar and poolbars the same. Staff in general are friendly and nice. The food in the different a la carte restaurants is good, but the food in the main buffet is just medium at dinner, varies a lot from dish to dish. Joshua (a waiter during dinner) was a great guy!! Lunchbuffet was the best food experience in the buffet restaurant. We loved the Dolce with icecream and coffe, also a very nice, friendly man serving here (unfortunately I don’t remember his name). The kids loved the wrap-café and the teen-place. The SPA is also great, and the massage was of very high quality. On the negative side it’s a lot of guests so it’s just not enough sunbeds for all the people, and people reserve the sunbeds early in the morning. It says in the rules that towels and personal belongings will be removed if people do this, but that never happened during our stay even if we observed beds that was not used for many hours. We couldn’t understand why almost every bed were occupied at 8 am, until we one morning going on an excursion at 6.15 noticed several people reserving beds at that time!!! I have never experienced this in a 5 star hotel ever, but maybe that’s a mexican or US phenomenon? Extremely annoying, should not be necessary to have alarm in the morning to get sunbeds. Also there are too few people working in the buffet restaurant during breakfast, so the serving of beverages is extremely slow, as the people both serve and clean tables. Many times we didn’t get our water/coffee until we were done eating, even if we ordered it before we went to get food. Or we got half of it, but did’nt get juice or chocolate milk in time. The lack of people also lead to that it took a long time before tables were cleared and ready for the next guests that were waiting in line outside. A few more people to clean tables or serve beverages would help a lot and make the breakfast experience perfect. The people working there now already work as fast as possible, so it’s not their fault. A small tip: eat breakfast in Dolce to save time, nice croissants, juice, yoghurt and coffee. The prices in the shops are unbelievable high, 14 USD for a bag of potato chips!?! With a lower price we would probably have bought at least 10 bags during our stay, now we bought only 1. The quality of the evening shows varies a lot. The magic show with the Alonso brothers was great, the other magic show with Keops was not. He might be good with cards, but it was not entertaining and he was mostly interested in selling his old dvds during the show. A lot of weddings didn’t bother us, but I understand why other guests react to the loud music and the behaviour by some. Specially the days when the poolbars are filled with drunk and loud weddingguests, it happened from time to time that large groups of drunk people occupied the poolbar (even if they didn’t get more alcohol), so our kids didn’t dare go there to get sodas or water. Very slow check in, and very little information other than: «you’ll find everything in the app». But we still missed some info. After a week, we found out by accident that you could book restaurants outside World café during a timeslot in the middle of the day. Would have been nice to know earlier. Overall the resort and it’s staff is great and there is a lot of avtivities, but because of the large number of guests (+ the «drunk-party behavior» of some guests), the massive low class reserving of sunbeds and other small negative hick ups, it lacks that luxury feeling and feels more like a good 4 star hotel,...

This is a review for Dreams/Secrets and it will be long and detailed. Food = 6.5/10 - The food was very hit and miss at both resorts, if you are an adult at Dreams you can eat at and have access to the restaurants at Secrets. - The outdoor Asado BBQ that happens once a week is easily the best meal, but you need to show up really early to get the good stuff and to be able to get a table (I recommend getting there for 6:15pm - The buffet is hit and miss, and I was surprised that the buffet did not have French fries. - ordering food from Tides which is one of the lunch restaurants can take a very long time so order something earlier then you think you want it. - one benefit to the buffet is they will give you a takeout box so if you don’t want to eat lunch or breakfast there you can take it to go. - The Italian restaurant at Secrets was meh and so was the French. - Restaurants on both sides do NOT take reservations which sucked as we were a larger group and would typically have to wait an hour or more to be seated. The only restaurant that had reservations was Hibachi but the app made it terrible to get reservations. Service = 9/10 - 99% of the staff are amazing and incredibly helpful. They are super friendly and always happy to help make your experience great. - The only negative was the sales presentation we had to sit through in order to get a free round of golf. This was a presentation for the Hyatt Club and it stunk. The material was not well put together (everything was written out on a yellow legal pad vs a power point). My dad actually was interested but things soured when we told them we needed to think about it as they were asking for a $20k deposit. Amenities = 7/10 - Overall the property was very clean and well taken care. - There are many different pools to sit at and if you prefer quiet areas you will be able to find them. - Getting cots by the pool at Secrets was a nightmare with a lot of people throwing towels down and never showing up. - There are beach beds that can be reserved if you are Preferred Club (don’t waste your money with PC more details below). - The amenities that were a bit disappointing were the kids basketball (the hoop was in shambles), the pickleball (it was not playable), and the tennis court (falling apart). Luckily for the tennis the Nadal Tennis centre is a 10 minute walk and only $30 to book. - The Golf Course is amazing but not including and costs $100 for afternoon and $100 for club rental (you can push them to give you a cheaper rental clubs) - The beach is clean and well taken care of Drinks = 8/10 - Almost all of the drinks made were great! I definitely recommend trying the Ice Berg (a margarita on top of a beer) - The reason this is not a 10 is because they do not have shot glasses and a number of bars won’t give you the can of beer and they would pour it into a glass that is difficult to drink beer from. Rooms = 6.5/10 - The rooms are slightly outdated compared to other hotels we have stayed at in the area, they do not have the same technology - Our room was also a part of a massive shared balcony with the entire floor which made things feel a lot less private (like anyone could walk by) - The rooms were clean Preferred Club = 2/10 - My aunt upgraded to preferred club and what a waste! Aside from the beach beds you really do NOT get anything. - You get access to an extra bar…the premium liquor included is not that much better then the basic - The rooms are not much nicer - You do NOT get access to restaurant reservations. That should be included In PC - if you are considering this save your money Entertainment = 6/10 - The day time entertainment staff are 10/10, they do a great job (awesome on the bikes!) - The nighttime entertainment was lack luster and what was crazy is that events started much later on the Dreams side then Secrets (which is for adults and you think it would be later) Special Shout Outs: - Both Carlos from Japanese restaurant - Rene bartender at Dreams - Irma our housekeeper - Omar from the beach club

I’m going to start off by saying that the resort is beautiful, the rooms are clean, and most of the staff is very friendly. Our first 2 days were great, we didn’t have any issues. But after that, it was something else every day. The most frustrating thing is the restaurants. There is always a wait to get in, even at the buffet. We waited about an hour on 2 different nights to get a table at 2 different restaurants. We were at a Mediterranean restaurant for over 2 hours, and the kids never got there food after all that time, so we got up and left. At another restaurant, we ordered 2 orders of chicken wings. We got 2 different kinds of wings, one spicy and one BBQ. There was no choices on the menu, they just brought out whatever. You can go to the same restaurant on a different day and the food will be different. It seems like they just use whatever they have laying around in the kitchen that day. They also have tablets in the room that has the menus for the restaurants on it. One of the restaurants we went to had a 4 page menu on the tablet, once we got there, it was only 2 pages. They said that the tablet menu was old. The other biggest problem was the pools. They just close them without letting anyone know when. One day we went down to the kids water park, it was closed, like 3 hours early. Another day one of the other pools was closed, 4 hours early. Another day, one of the pools was so hot, it felt like a hot tub, but the others pools were fine. One night the resort was only down to 1 pool. Today, we asked what time the kids water park opens, we were told 10:00am. We get there right at 10. None of the water was turned on in the water park yet, we waited in the pool that’s connected to it, another 10 minutes go by and nothing. We went to ask an employee, and he said the pool was closed. There was about 20 other parents and children in this pool, and he said they added a bunch of chemicals and people couldn’t be in it, yet they didn’t tell anyone so there was a bunch of people in there. Finally someone came and made an announcement to get out. They said it would be opened at noon, so we came back around 2, and it was closed. They have tablets in all the rooms with information, but they never put pool closings or important stuff of there. We decided that we were going to leave the resort and go shopping in town. We went to the main lobby where they have an ATM and a place to exchange money. They only had 1 ATM and it was broken. They told us that we would have to take a gulf cart to the Secrets resort and use their ATM and call a taxi from there to leave. We were all standing there the whole time, including my 4 year old. We walked all the way through the resort to get to the place were the gulf cart could pick us up. We waited for a few minutes, and the guy shows up. He told us our son wasn’t able to go because it was an adults only resort at Secrets, even if he didn’t step foot inside. So my son and I had to walk all the way back and let the others in our party go to the other resort and then they had to come back and then get the taxi. The guy just said he was sorry, he didn’t see my son. It was just frustrating, because we missed the ferry that we were going to get on and had to wait, because of all the back and forth. And lastly, most of the employees are amazing. But we had a few at the restaurants that were not very nice. They seemed bothered and very annoyed with everyone, especially if we asked a question about something on the menu. I don’t think I would come back or recommend this place to friends or family. There are so many inconsistencies that can decide if you are going to have a good time or not.

I stayed here for a destination wedding and this was my first stay at an all inclusive resort. It felt like a lot of money upfront, but once I settled in, it was pure relaxation because there was no need to worry about much of anything. The view as soon as you get to the steps after check-in is a great preview of the area you'll be exploring during your stay. Check-in: My only negative experience was the check-in experience because it took ONE WHOLE HOUR! There were only 3 people ahead of me, but it took about 30 minutes before it was my turn and they told me I couldn't sit down to wait my turn. When checking in, the person assisting me didn't give me any information about the resort except for the hibachi. I said I wouldn't be able to make it because the days and hours he told me it is available conflicted with plans for the wedding, but he kept pushing how great it was several times... It seemed like I was not the only person who got this experience after speaking with others, although some other people also got great experiences and learned a lot about the resort! After all the paperwork was done, he gave me my room key and a ticket for my bag. The bellhop came shortly afterward and said my ticket didn't match my room number so I had to go back to the check-in desk and get it corrected. It took about another 30 minutes again to get a hold of the bellhop and then to my room. It would have been easier for me to just take my single bag myself. Additionally, when checking out, they gave me a 17 page survey, to which I told them I did not have time to do while trying to catch a flight. Room: My junior suite garden view room was one of the most grand rooms I've ever stayed in, even though it is the cheapest option available. It also had a hydro tub outdoors, which was described as private but it was only semi-private because neighboring rooms and rooms above you can see your tub. I get disturbed by noise easily at night but it was very quiet and I never needed to use my earplugs. Room service is also included! Restaurants: I was able to walk into every restaurant I tried without needing to wait to be seated. Not every item at every place was good. A few dishes were delicious, most were mediocre, and a few dishes were not good. Gaucho Grill may have been my favorite restaurants where I didn't try anything I didn't like. Every meat there was great and the servers were very friendly. Be aware of the dress codes that some of the restaurants enforce. For example, Gaucho Grill required casual elegance, meaning they required sneakers, tennis shoes, or dress sandals, dress shirts with sleeves, and long pants for men. No flip-flops allowed and no sleeveless shirts allowed for men. There is only one restaurant before 11am. World Cafe, the buffet restaurants, opens at 7am. The only other place open that early is the cafe, Dolce, but they don't serve meals, only coffee and dessert. Activities: The pool areas can get crowded during the day and there are sometimes beach towels left on beach chairs that don't get cleaned up so you can't always be too sure if seats are free or not without asking around. There are two water slides that you can go on, one completely closed tube which is faster, and the other is a half tube which is slower. They make you take every accessory off for the ride, including watch, phone, jewelry, etc. There is a lifeguard at the bottom as well. Overall: It was a relaxing experience and a great time for my first all-inclusive resort.
