Our honeymoon at Excellence Playa Mujeres was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, the entire team went above and beyond to make our stay not only special but unforgettable. We want to give a heartfelt thank you to the incredible staff who made such a difference during our trip: • Jakeline & Vilma (guest services) – Absolutely wonderful in ensuring our honeymoon package and dinners at Chez Isabelle and Oregano were flawless, accommodating, and memorable. Their warmth and attentiveness made us feel truly cared for every step of the way. • Enrique (bar manager) – Surprised us with an off-menu cocktail at Basmati on 8/30 and took incredible care of us the next night at Agave. • Veronica (bar manager) – So sweet and thoughtful, checking in on us at Oregano to make sure we were happy. • Ruben (bar manager) – Delighted us with delicious non-alcoholic creations at Basmati. • Eduardo (entertainment team) – Our amazing bike tour guide, whose humor, energy, and friendliness brightened every encounter. • Antonio (server at Agave) – Fantastic sense of humor and spot-on recommendations for authentic Mexican cuisine. The little touches made such a difference—like rose petals and an anniversary sign at Basmati, or the romantic desserts and flowers waiting in our room at night. The property itself is breathtaking, made even more charming by the adorable iguanas roaming around, giving the whole place a magical vibe. Dining was a highlight, especially breakfasts at Kitchen Table, where the buffet selection and attentive service fueled us with healthy and delicious meals. As far as the dinners went, they were spectacular. Especially we enjoyed Chez Isabelle, Basmati, Oregano and Magna. The activities were outstanding too—we biked through the property, practiced yoga on the beach, enjoyed an amazing magic show, and even tried archery for the first time. This resort is the perfect balance of relaxation, romance, and adventure. We left with full hearts, wonderful memories, and immense gratitude for everyone who worked so hard to make our honeymoon so extraordinary. We truly cannot recommend Excellence Playa Mujeres enough.

Had a great long weekend stay at Excellence Playa Mujeres! The best part was easily the staff and service. Staff are all attentive and sweet. Other guests have also been incredibly friendly! Check-in was easy, though inputting our information on the iPads was a little clunky - apparently you can do this ahead of time via online check-in. I was only a little disappointed I wasn't offered a glass of bubbly (I think they were refilling glasses when we walked in). Many great activities - including tennis lessons with Alfonso (we had a great group lesson with folks of all levels of experience). Definitely check him out or ask about him when you visit. Other activities we enjoyed included painting on the beach while sipping sangria, mud spa activity on the beach with Vincenzo/Eduardo, archery with Jayden, and blackjack in the pool with Vincenzo! Nightly shows were also a enjoyable. There are many water activities that are offered on the beach including paddleboard, kayak, jet-ski, and more. Not sure if there is additional charge for any activities since we only paddle boarded. Our experience with the staff there was a bit lukewarm. We signed a waiver and were given the PFDs, boards, and paddles with instruction to stay within designated boundaries. Otherwise - nobody really checked if we knew how to paddleboard nor any other instructions (it was fine since we paddled before, but can't imagine this being sufficient for everyone). When we returned, we pulled the boards back onto the sand and walked the paddles back to the folks running the activities. At that time, we were told by staff, "next time, bring the boards back up here" - which just seemed a bit unreasonable given their judgmental tone and the relative lack of instruction on very much before hand. Either way- we had a great time. The resort felt pretty quiet with plenty of seats/hammocks/chairs everywhere we went - perhaps just reflecting low season/September - but we really appreciated this.

Edited (8/7/25) to add more information about Josue who went even more above and beyond on our final day at the resort.

Stayed just a bit over a week and the trip went by fast. The food was great and there were plenty of amenities around the resort. We enjoyed our room amenities and the close proximity of the beach, pools, and restaurants to our room.

But the main stars of the resort are the staff members. The staff was excellent, from the moment we were picked up from the airport by the Seasons driver to the last day. I do want to shout out certain staff members though for their above and beyond service (eventhough all staff members went above and beyond, but these are the ones that I do remember).

Thank you to all the housekeepers for keeping the room clean throughout the day, and thank you to the amazing and accomodating staff at the Excellence Club concierge.

In the morning, these last 10 days, we’ve been treated so nicely by all of the female bartenders at Aroma. Shoutout to Jesus for being a fun activities instructor and Hugo, our server at the French Restaurant for being attentive. Well deserved shoutout to the waitress at the Sports Bar (I think her name was Avli, I’m sorry I missed your name), who despite all the noise at 11:00PM, would always be so sweet.

And huge shoutout to Jose, Benjamin, and the other amazing waiter (I’m sorry I didn’t get your name eventhough you brought your name up), who took great care of us at Magna during breakfast and also took great care of us at Oregano. They are always so efficient and so friendly. They always made sure we had what we needed and were great to talk to.

Thank you to Josue and David, at the Excellence Club beach concierge, for always setting us up at the beach and for always sparking conversations to make us feel like we’re home. Josue went above and beyond with making sure our last day at Excellence was amazing, by getting us monkey coconuts and presenting so much positivity.

Shoutout to Enrique and Joan, and all of the restaurant hosts and hostesses for their welcomes and accomodations.

Last but not least, thank you to all the bartenders. Throughout the entire night, the bartenders sparked conversations and entertained guests, while also efficiently making delicious cocktails and shots to all their guests. I will truly miss the hospitality that the bartenders provided.

The biggest shoutouts go to Leslie and Cesar at the Martini Bar. They were brilliant and exceptional bartenders from day 1 till the end of our trip. They always kept the party going for everyone at the bar, even when there would be floods of people coming in after the night show ended. They would always surprise us with different types of shots which were all delicious, and kept us entertained the entire night. They radiated so much vibrant energy and I could tell everyone at the bar was having an excellent time because of them. I will truly miss their above and beyond service, as it was always a pleasure to be...

Not sure where to begin honestly! We searched high and low for a place to go for our honeymoon that was nice but affordable and rolled the dice on Excellence because of the great reviews. We loved it from the moment we walked in and were so sad to leave after 6 days. Hands down, the best thing about this place is the staff. They were all so wonderful, it really made the difference in our experience. A few really stood out to us- Cesar, our concierge at the Excellence beach club, Oscar at los solas bar on the beach, he was so fun and always said “see you in 5 min!” Maria, a host at Magna and Oregano was absolutely precious and so awesome. And Alan, our waiter at Magna and Oregano, we truly loved having breakfast with him as our waiter almost every morning. He goes above and beyond, has such a great attitude and is a lot of fun to interact with. Truly, the entire staff is incredible. We had a swim up suite facing the main pool and the ocean off in the distance. Hands down, this was the best room to us. We could walk directly out of our room and into the pools, could leave our belongings and just go swim. Every night we walked straight out of our back door and down to the beach which we had all to ourselves. Room service was amazing, seems like they came in 3 times a day. This resort definitely had a “couples friendly” vibe to as we met so many other people on their honeymoon or anniversary. Regardless, everyone was having so much fun it seemed. We thought it was the perfect mix of fun and relaxing- there wasn’t any crazy partying late at night but there were a lot of fun things going on at the main pool during the day and shows/parties at night in the outdoor theatre. We absolutely loved karaoke! We just wish they would have done it longer since it was only an hour. It never seemed too crowded, there were always chairs by the beach or pool especially if you get excellence club, we always had nice chairs and service. Also worth noting, the beach was nice, we spent a lot of time in the water. This was not the case at other locations just down the way from us where tons of seaweed was washed up. The food was super good! Our favorite was Magna which comes with the excellence club. The breakfast was our absolute favorite.

A few pro tips- bring your own insulated cups with straws. It keeps the drinks cold and they don’t have straws at the resort. Do the hobie kat that’s offered complimentary, we got to go pretty far out with our guide and saw several sea turtles and swam a little bit. It was an awesome experience! If you get a swim up and want more of a relaxing area, definitely request any building besides 9, we were facing the party pool during the day and the music was a lot on the first day because we were so tired. We could hear it in our room pretty clearly. But it wasn’t a problem at all the rest of the time because we enjoyed that location and weren’t in our room much...
