I recently had the pleasure of staying at Kai Tulum and let me tell you, it was an absolute dream! From the moment we arrived, we knew we were in for something special. First off, let me highly recommend splurging for the oceanview room - it's worth every penny! Waking up to the sound of the waves crashing against the shore and the breathtaking view of the turquoise waters was simply magical.
Now, let's talk about the food. Oh my goodness, it was out of this world! Every meal we had at the resort's restaurant was a culinary delight. From fresh seafood to mouthwatering local specialties, every bite was a taste sensation.
One thing that really stood out to us was how impeccably clean and well-maintained the resort was, especially compared to neighboring beachfront properties. It's clear that the staff take great pride in their work, and it definitely shows.
Speaking of the staff, I can't say enough good things about them. Not only were they incredibly helpful and attentive, but they were also genuinely friendly and welcoming. It really enhanced our overall experience knowing that we were in good hands.
Now, I do want to mention something that caught us off guard. On our second day, we encountered individuals claiming to be federal agents in polo shirts and asking for a fee of 60 pesos per person in order to return to our resort. While it's possible that this was a legitimate charge for entry to the national park, we couldn't help but feel like it might have been a scam. Especially considering there were others who were seemingly granted passage. They also did not allow plastic and we were forced to throw away our bottles before proceeding. Just something to be aware of and perhaps clarify with the staff upon arrival.
Now, let's talk about the accommodations. Our room was like something out of a luxury travel magazine - a private hut with all the amenities you could ask for, including air conditioning and an outdoor shower (which was a lifesaver for rinsing off sand). Plus, having hammocks right outside our door was the perfect touch.
And let's not forget about the welcome drink - a refreshing treat after our journey to the resort. Whether you prefer something alcoholic or a fresh juice, it's a lovely gesture that sets the tone for your stay.
Of course, no tropical getaway would be complete without a dip in the pool, and Kai Tulum's pool was a true oasis. After a day of exploring or lounging on the beach, it was the perfect spot to cool off and relax.
Now, I will say that the sargassum on the beach was a bit of a nuisance, especially as the tide got higher. However, the resort staff did their best to keep the beach clean, and we always managed to find a way to enjoy the water without too much trouble.
Overall, our stay at Kai Tulum was nothing short of perfection. From the stunning oceanview room to the delectable food to the impeccable service, it's easily the best resort experience we've ever had. We can't...
Read moreThe houses where you can stay in are absolutely beautiful, great experience. From the house you can walk over beach sand to the restaurant to the beach. The houses (rooms) itself give a nice beach-house feeling, really making you feel you are on a holiday. The beds are extremely comfortable, bathroom and facilities is all fine. Most of the main people are really friendly and supportive. Location of the hotel is quite central on the beach, easy to reach other hotels and taking any of the boats, run by local people, to go (scuba) diving and visit nice spots. Just note the distance to the city center (Pueblo) is quite far. So when you go to the city center often, you will need to take into account it is a 20 USD or 300 MXN every single trip (for only a 10 minute taxi ride). Know that taxi's are expensive in general, however you can (should) always negotiate with the drivers. The restaurant offers a wide range of high quality food, only the service (friendliness) is something that should be improved. There was one person (man) in the staff, we assume from security, that was constantly walking around but ONLY looking on his phone. Even when we asked him something or when he came to our room to fix something he only stood in front of the house looking at his phone. Even when passing him he did not even say something. Even when greeting other colleagues around him he did not even bother to look up, kept looking at his phone. Very very unprofessional! Secondly the beds at the beach area are very modern and fancy, but incredibly uncomfortable. For such a high-end hotel there should be comfortable beds, of which there are only a few (3). This is really unacceptable. Given the price level of this hotel some (simple) services should be included. However one day we decided to bike to the nearby ruins, other beaches and simply discover the area. When asking for a bike we were informed the bikes had to be rented, for a spectacular 20 USD per day per bike. Also knowing bikes could be rended in the nearby center for 3 USD/day this really felt as a ripoff, again even more so given the price level of the rooms. Lastly, again, asking for tips at the restaurant of the hotel when eating there, or even when only ordering drinks on the beach area. In general this is quite annoying, but given the price levels of the food and drinks this proper compensation of the employees should (must) be included. I know this "system" is due to the high amount of visitors from the US, but please keep to your Mexican hospitality. Also when discussing this topic with one of the people serving drinks he mentioned the waiters even have to pay the restaurant as they are facing the customers. We have a hard time believing this, but if this is true it is absolutely disgraceful, in that case the restaurant is ripping of its employees and should stop this...
Read moreThe hotel was misleading... I wanted a refund and to leave immediately once I arrived. The manager was not very friendly also, the beach is full of boats which makes it unsafe to swim (misleading photos), the room has cracks on the floor all over, so mosquitos are in the room and I am allergic to mosquito and flea bites (somehow I also got flea bites despite not going to the beach so couldn’t have been sand flea bites- must have come from the room). It cost $40 per way to get to the hotels and restaurants on the strip because the shorter road is currently closed- so, want a decent dinner? Pay $80 just to get there and back. You also have to pay per person just to get to the hotel bc it’s in a national park which was also not disclosed clearly. The front desk manager said the cleaning people didn’t want to come clean the room anyway in the rudest way just because I simply asked them to stop politely when I saw they were randomly in the room. Then I told the front desk I wanted to have a heads up before someone is going in the room since there are no signs or anything I can put on the door for do not disturb. The fridge didn’t work and the Ac didn’t work. I spent one night and left despite having paid almost 1k. I only stayed bc I was told to wait and talk to the manager the next day at noon bc they could probably give me back at least half of what I paid so we could leave. She was rude and didn’t budge or feel empathy- she said if I wanted to go pack my things she’d send someone to help grab my things and send me off. Very bad experience. Save your money and stay somewhere way nicer on the strip for less… they are very over priced. It’s also a public and full beach of random people and boats. It’s not relaxing or peaceful and the restaurant doesn’t understand gluten free very well and is not very good. Our server the first night was slow and didn’t pay attention and in the morning the other server was very nice but slow- very slow. I literally had to leave and come back to pay bc was running late for a work call and it took him thirty mins to get the check to me. You can get so much better for the money! Save...
