Attention - Scammers - Awful experience
Arrived today at 04:30pm and was terribly scammed by this place. At the entrance it was written on a sign that this place is open until 7pm. A lady at their parking lot confirmed their opening times.
After walking to the restaurant I ordered a veggie juice and avocado dip (btw the only vegan food they have). The waiter served the food and told us that we have to leave the place immediately after eating. That was maybe 15 minutes after sitting down in their chairs. The receipt I got after paying by credit card was magically higher than the prices on the menu.
After paying, I wanted to hang around the beach and take some photos of the sea but was escorted by a heavily armed security guard to the receptionist and had to leave the place. This man at the reception was undoubtedly the worst character I encountered in almost one month of traveling through Mexico. He treated me without any sign of respect and with an incomparable level of impudence.
All in all, it was a complete waste of time and money. I’ve never been treated like this before and lived for almost 5 years in Latin America. The first bad service experience in Mexico and I would like to warn every traveler to enter this property. They are criminals and organised scammers.
Even the 1-Star-Rating is too high...
Read moreWARNING!!! Adding a mandatory tip (15%) is ILLEGAL in Mexico. Report this business to Profeco (Consumer protection agency in Mexico) if they continue this illegal practice. The waiter here told our table and other tables before us at La Diosa Tulum (used to be Casa Galeones) at the beachside restaurant that 15% was added and that we were unable to remove or reduce it (food was good, but service was moderate at best). We would have been happy to pay 10% for the tip, as is standard, but are now mad because the waiter FORCED us to pay 15%. When we (and other tables) objected, he said..."This is Mexico. Tulum is expensive" and still forced us to pay. When we later asked for a copy of the receipt for reimbursement purposes, he went on a defensive rant and slowed our ability to get a simple copy of the receipt. We will 100% report this to the...
Read moreEl Silver is the name of the Food Trailor that is here. Apparently associated with Casa Galeones in Tulum somewhere. This is an old air stream trailor that they serve great food out of. Shrimp Tacos were excellent. My daughter's loved the green juice and the Guacamole. They have beds and beach chairs to use for a price. I guess it was more of a minimum to spend for the day. It was totally worth it. Beers were cold and Cocktails were great too. The music was great as well. We spent 2 of our days here and loved it. When we go back to Tulum this will be our first stop when we go the...
