Thoughtful and Kind, A Wonderful Place to Stay
I can’t say enough good things about Hostal Las Cruces. A cute, well-looked after family establishment run by the sweetest siblings who were so very patient with me when I practised my Spanish as well as when I got sick on my final day. More on that later:
As soon as I arrived, with a friendly smile I was given a towel, a little welcome pack with soaps and toiletries, and shown around the cute and super clean hostel. All the rooms had both A/C and powerful fans for when the a/c was off during the day. I didn’t feel too hot at all, even when I had the food-poisoning sweats. In the eating and chill out area there’s Netflix and video games, and plenty of information about Valladolid and everything you could possibly want to do there. They also rent out decent bikes (with brakes!) which I made sure to take advantage of to cycle to the cenotes. Breakfast seems to change daily and is generous, with fruit left out for you to take also. Both the sister and brothers were always more than happy to help. When I couldn’t get any hot water, they immediately checked it out for me and sorted it. The lockers are big enough to store belongings as well. The atmosphere was chilled but still had a nice bunch of people to make friends with. Two gyms round the corner too!
Then I got sick and had to extend my stay as I was bed-ridden with Mexican food poisoning... straight away they gave me a new bed in a quieter room so I could suffer in peace and went out to buy me electrolytes (they refused payment of these but I insisted when I checked out) especislly the sister was an absolute angel! She made me banana and toast when I was feeling a little better and constantly checked on me. Usually as a solo traveller, when you get sick it’s a lonely time. I felt like I had a secondary family taking care of me. I can never express my gratitude except to tell people to come to this lovely, heartwarming place and give this adorable family your business. They will take so much...
Read moreOne of the best hostel where I stayed. This place is a gem. I stayed in one of the dorm and the rooms are big, clean with comfy beds. At night there’s AC so you can have a nice sleep. The common area is right next to the kitchen and has few dining tables and some comfy sofas. It’s perfect to mingle with the other guests. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you might need to cook and the staff cleans it few times a day so it’s also very clean. In the morning they serve a nice free breakfast and coffee. Breakfast menu changes everyday! Once I had American pancakes and the other scrambled eggs and a toast. Both were great. There’s also fresh fruits. What makes the difference though are the hosts. Emilio and Benjamin will give you all kinds of tips to enjoy your time in Valladolid, you only have to ask. They make you feel very welcome...

The staff was very eager to keep everything up to date and asked us for feedback on the places we visited. The room was clean had a good shower and there are plenty of fans and air conditionings. The breakfast is really good, I even got something else as breakfast when I did not like the menu. ||The owners are great people and I would recommend this hostel for anyone who is looking for a great place with an amazing atmosphere. The city centre and restaurants are a short walk away. We had an...
