After years of hearing friends hype up Kekai Surf House, I finally made it to Taghazout—and now I get it. This place isn’t just another surf hostel; it’s the kind of spot that makes you want to extend your stay.
Why Kekai Stands Out: ✔ Impeccably Clean & Comfortable – From the dorms to the common areas, everything feels well cared for (a rarity in surf towns). ✔ Terrace – Sunrise coffee sessions, lazy afternoons with a book, and movie nights under the stars—this is where the magic happens. ✔ Adrian (The Owner) is a LEGEND – No ego, no pretentiousness—just a genuinely good guy who’s created a space that feels like home. You can tell he actually cares about the guest experience and goes over the top to make sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying their time. ✔ Volunteers Who Keep the Vibes Right – Shoutout to the team holding it down. The fact that the energy stays so consistently good speaks volumes about the ownership. ✔ Bonus Perks – The weights and yoga gear are greatfor balancing surf days with movement.
If you’re looking for a place that nails the balance between surf stoke and laid-back comfort, Kekai is it. No over-the-top party chaos, no cut corners—just good people, great waves, and a terrace you’ll miss the...

Additionally, I had hoped for a warmer welcome from the manager, Claudia. One small instance stood out—when I was cooking in the evening and asked to borrow some oil, the response was a very quick “no.” While I understand the need to manage supplies, a more hospitable approach like “yes sure, but can you buy some yourself tomorrow because we cannot buy this for all the guests” would have been more in line with the welcoming spirit of Taghazout.
That being said, the overall vibe, stunning views, and cleanliness make this a fantastic place to stay, and I would definitely...
Read moreThis is by far one of the best hostels I’ve been to since I started traveling. It truly feels like a big family—super social, and it’s incredibly easy to talk to everyone. The terrace area with a stunning sea view makes it even better!
The common areas, kitchen, and rooms are cleaned daily, and everything always smells amazing. Huge thanks to the volunteers for keeping the place spotless and for bringing such a great vibe—especially Giovanni, Rachel, Ougna, and Gaia (sorry if I misspelled a name!).
And most of all, a big thank you to Sou, the manager, who made me feel at home from day one! Some of my best travel memories were made here, and that’s largely thanks to the hostel and the amazing people who work there. I can’t...
