Splendid Hôtel — Hotel in Fez

Not that splendid! Not as advertised: no bar, the pool is outside, not heated. Breakfast is basic and poor value (save your money and go to a café). Very clean, and some staff were friendly. Reception staff were uniformly unhelpful - we arrived in the evening and they weren't helpful when we asked for suggestions where to eat. Waiting for our taxi to depart they wouldn't make us a coffee as they said they were too busy. But the hotel was more or less empty the whole time we were there. For a summer stay the pool would be good, and I imagine the location would be better than the crush of the medina. Didn't check the air con. No heat in winter but extra blankets. Ok to walk to the sights in the cool of December (19C) but you'd fry in the summer as it is over half an hour brisk walk. Petit taxis are fast and plentiful but be wary as some will try it on, while others are lovely. Would we stay there again? It's...

I stayed at this hotel as part of a tour group. I hate negative reviews when a hotel, like this one, has some lovely staff but I am afraid this hotel is tired and not well located for seeing the interesting part of Fes. It appears to be a hotel for small business people located in the commercial part of the city. It was not within reasonable walking distance of the Medina and other historic sites. The first room I was allocated reeked of cigarette smoke and had some very dodgy electrical switches. The second was better but dark and worn. A major concern was the fire safety of this hotel because of the state of some of the plugs. etc. The much overworked domestic on my floor, Fatima, was a lovely woman, and she and a charming man on the desk, were the most positive things of my stay...

Wi-Fi is working only in the lobby and not in your room at all which is ridicilous, Breakfasts were everyday the same and was average, tried spaghetti bolognese from hotel restaurant and it was really bad, at least waiter was always good and friendly, rooms are horrible looking like back to 60's, 1 socket in whole room is ridicilous and Not even close to bed..bathroom to small that you Don't even have enough space on toilet, at least hot water was Okay, hotel stinks from cigarettes all over, through the walls you can hear your neighbours talking easy, won't reccomend this hotel at all to anyone ridicilous experience...
