Do not book through Trip.com to avoid disappointment.
I have been tasked to prepare a review regarding our stay here in this established. So here I am composing this review at 03:30 - 07:00 hours on Friday 15 November, 2024: Tazaungdaing Festival day also known as the full moon day of Tazaungmon. Highly likely this review would be the longest I have ever done. It is prepared at the hotel lobby at this hour with security & front-office staff present.
The stay at the hotel would have been a superb experience if it would not had been utterly spoiled by a fraudulent activity done by agents of Trip.com. (This Trip.com’s fraudulent activity will be dealt with accordingly through authority channels once we are back in resident country). I have been informed that said fraudulent activities is done by Trip.com repeatedly and have been causing negative impressions.
To shed some light on; Trip.com charges customers for higher rate rooms. But in reality it actually reserved lower rate rooms. So when customers showed up, they realised that rooms are not as advertised by Trip.com. (Put yourself in the shoes of someone who had been on a 16 hours flight {excluding transit time}, stepped into the room that much inferior to which they paid for and the reserved customer is a registered disabled individual! Personally, I do not envy front-office staff trying to diffuse the situation.)
Our case escalated. We have to pay extra to get the actual room booked through Trip.com. So basically it negatively impacted financially to us (Paying extra to the hotel for the already paid room through Trip.com. It would have been cheaper and less stressful of course if the reservation was done directly through the hotel website.) even though it is not customers fault nor the hotel’s. It is entirely down to fraudulent deeds done by Trip.com agents. We had to accept the arrangement because it was not wise to relocate somewhere else at short notice.
One can find out physical details of the hotel on its website so I decided not to elaborate. I will focus on things someone can experience in person. *Front-office staff - great service providers. *House-keeping staff - great service providers. *Security - do the job proper. Restaurant staff - provided great meals and service. (*I observed and interacted personally with staff to make these onclusions.)
Review would not be completed without negative inputs though. This is purely for the purpose of improvements. Of course, the hotel is not perfect being refurbished multiple times through out the time. This establishment has been here for at least five decades.
Mice fightings on overhead wiring duct lines. I did see one with the help of my personal torch. They scattered away as they saw the torch light. I know getting rid of them would be impossible because of unfavourable surroundings: food vendors around the corner, a tea house and small restaurant near-by and a cinema. A rope barrier & signage should be placed stairs leading to 7th floor prohibiting unauthorised persons going up as the floor is...
Read moreVery very very unprofessional staffs (or maybe they have very poorly designed operating systems, apologies to them if that’s the case).
All they know is “please wait”and “have a seat”, as if they are being polite when things can be done in literally 20 seconds. Just be familiar with your job and be professional so that the customers don’t need to have a seat and don’t wait so much. It took me more than 5 minutes just to re-tap my key card, I was the only guest at the reception, and the receptionist asked me to take a seat, seriously?
I booked a second night because I was too lazy to pack and move all my stuff. And to be fair, the room and facilities are nice, good enough for the price at least. I made everything happen in the morning, went to the reception made sure I could stay in the same room and signed a new check-in paper and re-tapped my keycard. Then, in the afternoon, a phone call from the reception asking for my passport again. I made sure that he knew I was the same guest from the day before, and I saw them had physically photocopied my passport when I first checked in, and yes he still needed it. Seriously?
The main reason why I booked this hotel in the first place was it seems to have a very well equipped gym, even better than most independent gyms in Yangon, at least from the pictures. Why from pictures? Because I didn’t get to use it!!! Because they said it’s public holiday so the gym was closed. I still can’t think this straight to this day, a gym is closed due to public holiday inside a hotel that is still running?
Overall the room is good for its value, but forget about the service. And if you want to use the gym, make sure it is open before you make...
Read moreThe room was really cozy and had excellent amenities. The staffs are very nice and welcoming. They even organize our charging cables for us while cleaning the room. The location was also a major plus with plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby. We absolutely love the experience so much that we extended our stay.
However, the downside was that during our stay, the hotel atrium on first floor started renovating around midnight without any prior notice. The noise from the renovations was extremely disruptive and made it impossible for me to sleep. We tried calling the front desk to ask about the noise and the front desk said they will ask the renovation to stop. The screw driving noise stopped for a while and started again so We went down to the reception to see what was going on. When We reach down, the front desk then told me the renovation will go throughout the entire night til morning and they are sorry about it. It was almost might night 12 AM and we had to checked out to rush to another hotel so that we could have a good night sleep.
Overall, the room and amenities were excellent, the late-night renovations without any notice really put a damper on our stay. If the hotel had provided some advance notice or moved the renovations to a more appropriate time, we would have had a much more...
