Avoid whilst they are renovating! |Well, what can I say?......Alot actually. But nothing positive I'm afraid. |When approaching reception we were greated with building work EVERYWHERE! We had booked through love holidays and they hadn't informed us that the hotel was under refurbishment. Pictures are attached just so you can see how bad it really was! The room wasnt as bad as the rest of the hotel, thank goodness! But it was basic to say the least. It didnt feel clean. The pillows were like big square ones you get on a sofa, hard and only one small one each. The quilt was basically a sheet. No tea or coffee although you could rent a kettle for €10 deposit! Really? The bathroom was smaller than a bathroom in a caravan and dont get me started on the shower. It took me 10 mins to get it to the right temp and even then, it only trickled out. For breakfast, you had to go across the road, to another run down boat in the wind and rain to a dismal dismay of breakfast. Luckily, the bacon was good (streaky and Crispy) so i filled up on bacon rolls. |Our first night was horrific. I didn't feel safe at all. We were kept awake all night by men shouting in the halls. I even heard the word 'gun' be used. The walls are incredibly thin. So take ear plugs. Or just book somewhere nicer where there are no drug dealers running the hallways.|When complaining at reception about the state of the place, the receptionist wasn't bothered. She looked at us as if we were going mad and there was nothing wrong with the place 🙄 So we knew at that point we weren't going to get anywhere with the hotel. I rang Love Holidays. They also were NOT helpful. Refused to move us and even refused to refund. Despite me stressing that this was for a 30th birthday trip and we did not feel safe. We were ignored until the final day when they emailed with an offer of compensation. The offer was a joke. Only a third of what we paid. But unfortunately I did not book the trip, and the lead booker accepted the dismal offer on my behalf which I was not in agreement with. So there's nothing i can do about it now. Lesson learnt on that one. |Don't get me wrong. We didn't expect The Ritz. But what we got was a joke and the way The Botel and Love Holidays dealt with our complaint was abysmal. Avoid at all costs until at least the refurbishment is finished. It could actually be amazing...
Read moreI am just back from a stay here, it made for a unique experience which I am glad I did. You are made to feel very welcome and tommy as a great knowledge from where to eat and to go. If you bring food in you are encouraged to eat in the lounge area the night we did Tommy's dog did its business on the floor which put me off slightly. Also be aware of noise as we were complained about by other boat dwellers, I think we just did not realise how quite you are expected to be, although we also heard noise I would not have complained but did where upon tommy investigates and proceeds to explain the reason why it was ok for there noise, dont think we were afforded that luxury. Tommy said to my daughter to ask us to keep noise down which she did. I was coming up from room where tommy was greeting new guests and he did the most unthinkable thing chinned me in front of them ,I was mortified they were all looking at me ....embarrassed does not even cover it. I have worked in hospitality alot of my working life to know that's a no no, I had things I wanted to say but found I didnt even want to be in his company after to that. Sorry tommy that's a major...
