I traveled to Hyatt Regency Aruba in the last week of August. We stayed as a family of three and all I have to say is we walked away with a truly amazing experience from beginning to end. Will cover as many areas as in depth as possible.
Check-in: We arrived early at 1 PM from EWR and were greeted with a sand bucket, macaroons and juice for my little one. I think this was a kind gesture after a 5 hour flight and note, I do not have any status. The front desk agents were courteous and friendly. They did tell us our room would be ready around 3 and it was. I did however request a different room for a different view and they happily accommodated and said it would be a bit longer which was fine.
Room: We booked a 2 queen resort and ocean view room. We overlooked the pool property and the ocean. It did come with a Juliette balcony which was fine for us for this trip since we were rarely in the room but the views were amazing. The room was often tended to and smelled clean. I thought the little things really added about the great amenities of the room. My wife appreciated the Brookstone ring mirror, the wireless charging alarm clock and the outlets with USB ports. The added touch the Nespresso machine. The last thing I liked was the automatic lights on the edge of the bed if you got up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom.
Resort: I don't have to go into details as I'm sure others and photos have been shared already but it really is beautiful and just a perfect slice of paradise. From the grounds, to the ponds, to the beach and feel of the lobby it all just flows so well. We've eaten at Ruinas Del Mar before and went again this trip. It's great for the little ones to feed the fish and keep them occupied.
Food: Every morning we would get the breakfast buffet as that was part of our stay and I am thankful I did. It had a bit of everything and given my kid is a fruit fanatic like most kids, he loved having bananas, watermelon, apples, blackberries at his disposal. I highly highly recommend the waffles. I am not a waffle person but my wife got them and they smelled incredible and tasted even better. I also got a smoothie at the bar by the beach and it was also a hit. I didn't try room service so I can't speak to that but I would say if you need something quick, they won't disappoint. I myself often frequented Eduardo's Beach Shack or the Bread Basket during lunch.
Beach: The beach is just beyond words. The water is calm, the sand is soft and just the right temperature even in the dead of August. Where most people often have complaints is having to book the cabanas out in advance and if you don't you have to pay extra and I agree with the sentiment here but given some recent rulings in Aruba about beaches, they are doing the best they can to manage the amount of people staying here. The beach is really one of my favorite and previously staying at the Holiday Inn, this was a considerable upgrade in many ways.
Pool: We only visited the pool one day again because of the reservation system but found this to be a real fun hot spot with the swim up bar and waterslide. I think I was one of the last to ride it before they closed it given some of the more recent reviews mentioning it was closed.
Overall: I talk and rave about coming back here the next opportunity I'm given. The Hyatt team from the beginning to end made my entire family feel welcome and courteous. I have travelled to Asia twice, Europe many times, a few times to South America and this is one of my favorite places of all time.
Thank you Hyatt Aruba team for the amazing trip...
Read moreMy family stayed at Hyatt Regency Aruba for 4 nights and for the most part, we enjoyed it. While in line to check in, we were greeted by complimentary champagne and chocolates. It was a nice surprise since I mostly expect that at an all-inclusive resort. Shout out to Xiomara at the front desk for the smooth check in and for explaining the resort in detail.
PARKING: $20 valet or free parking at the lot across the street.
REGENCY CLUB: I’d say that the most beneficial thing during this stay was access to the club where we had daily breakfast and hor deourves from 5pm to 7pm. It had 2 coffee/espresso machines, fridge for canned sodas and beers, and wines. It had an outdoor patio and lots of seating inside. I’d love to give a big shout to Rowena, Xiara, and Jacquelin for the wonderful hospitality throughout our stay. I was very thankful that they helped us out in celebrating my mom’s 60th birthday with a beautiful small cake and a phenomenal Happy Birthday song with maracas and all. Shout out to Meraris, Luisa, and Philemon for joining the party!
POOL/BEACH: The resort had a few different pools including an adults only section with an infinity pool, a swim up bar located in the same pool where the water slide ends, and another smaller pool where mostly kids played in. The adults only pool was where we stayed the most. Many, many people wake up at 6am to reserve chairs on both the pools and the beach so tip for you all to plan accordingly. We would go to the pool in the early afternoon and thankfully by then, we were able to snag a few chairs. Floaties not allowed in the adult pool. -The beaches all over Aruba are all public so you’ll see non-hotel guests too. With the palapas at the beach, we were able to reserve them early enough. -Cabanas by the pool range from $75 to $450.
RESTAURANTS: Truthfully, we didn’t try too many of the restaurants at the resort since we wanted to eat outside of the hotel for higher rated restaurants. The prices were similar to LA/Southern California pricing.
GYM: The larger room has all the cardio machines plus the lifting machines. There’s a separate smaller room across the hallway that has all the dumbbells and bench presses (we didn’t see this at first so make sure to pay attention). I mostly used the outdoor turf to do my own workouts but be careful** since I saw some broken glass by the end of the turf.
CONS: Upon arrival to our room, we saw that there was a whole drawer under the TV that had leftover baby food and juices wrapped in a plastic bag. This tells me that they don’t clean the rooms very well. -Our room was pool view on the 5th floor. During our first night, there was live music playing at the bar which we loved! But the music continued past 11pm. -Very thin walls/doors as you can hear people talking in the hallways and next door.
OVERALL: It was a decent hotel and truthfully, it was not the most impressive Hyatt resort that I’ve stayed at, especially for the price of the stay. While they had a beautiful resort with the pools, the wildlife, the trees, and all, they could have done a better job with the cleanliness...
Read moreFirst time in Aruba, traveled with my wife and 1.5 year old daughter. This hotel is impressive. The grounds and property are truly breathtaking. From the open air lobby, to the pool, and grounds, you have plenty of palm trees, rock features, greenery, and crystal blue water to see. We felt like we’re in Hawaii when we walked into the lobby. We passed numerous other hotels while walking around the area and their beach/pool/lobby did not hold a candle to how nice the Hyatt was. The property is laid out nicely. It seems larger than it is, but everything is easy to access. We went back and forth from pool to beach to meals with ease. The staff was exceptional. Johanna in housekeeping cleaned our room unlike any hotel I’ve ever been too. Naturally with a 1.5 year old, our room was a little messy and busy. My wife and I were both blown away when we walked into our room after she had just finished cleaning. All of our belongings were neatly organized and she had cleaned parts of the room that I would never expect a routine cleaning to include. Thankfully she was cleaning the room next door and were able to thank her for her hospitality. I also want to praise Stefan and William at Concierge/Bell Services. Our daughter became ill and she needed medical attention. Stefan contacted the nearby urgent care and made sure they would be open for us(it was getting late) when we arrived. William then drove us straight to the urgent care so we would be seen before closing. William then drove us to a local pharmacy and waited for us to fill our prescription before returning us to our hotel. What we initially feared to be a vacation worst nightmare turned out to be a quick 1.5 hour hiccup that got us right back to our vacation thanks to the help of these 2 gentleman. Bingo is a lot of fun at the pool; Augie brings a lot of life to Bingo. The hotel pools(adult and regular) are really nice. And my wife and I got some laughs from the water slide, which was surprisingly longer than it looks. My only complaint with this hotel is the quality of food, portions, and pricing of food and drinks. I would’ve liked to have eaten more on the grounds, but the food just wasn’t impressive. We dined at Ruinas Del Mar, and it left a lot to be desired. Food was overpriced and not really tasty. Resort wide, the drinks at the bars were weak for the prices that were charged. If I’m paying $20 for a cocktail I’d like it to use good ingredients. We ordered chicken quesadillas as a snack one day and for $20 it was actually just 2 chicken and cheese tacos. Would’ve spent more time and meals at the resort if the food and drinks weren’t disappointing or overpriced. However, Overall we loved our stay here. When we return to Aruba; we will stay here. Tips: Eat breakfast at Scott’s Brats(right next to property on beach), walk to the strip(5 minute walk) and buy your own beer and alcohol to bring to property; be sure to reserve your beach chairs ahead of|Time(get a Palapa) and don’t bother paying extra for a better spot(they are all close enough...
