Lake Domain Homestay — Hotel in Hamilton

Very disappointed after staying one night. There were stains in the blankets, towels and pillows. Tried to move the beds so my toddler could sleep next to us without falling off, and it was disgusting underneath, so had to leave them where they were. The common bathroom upstairs is getting old, has mold and cobwebs everywhere. Tried to enjoy a free-coffee and the kettle was super rusted inside, so aborted immediately. The kitchen cutlery looked dirty. There was no TV in the room even though the reservation indicated one. There was no WiFi the night we stayed and the owner didn't attempt to compensate us at all, just said "sorry". The carpark is cramped (if you are lucky to get a space) and it's difficult to get in and out as there is no space to U-turn, the entrance is tight and direct to a busy road. Only the house location and lake views were enjoyable. Not planning to go...

This is one for anyone looking for freedom without rules - I say that as the guest house is owned by the nicest person I have met in a long time - this is a house with lots of rooms - come and go as you please - use the kitchen and washing facilities if required. The view from the front is breathtaking as it is literally on top of Lake Rotoroa. Which in itself is a great walk/jog around - full of wildlife.||I was in a small single room - travelling solo - so i only needed a bed to sleep and a base for my case. The town of Hamilton is only 10 mins walk away - I mapped out the route and found it easy. ||Used the main house lounge and kitchen - cooked food for myself and watched T.V in comfort. Got to say this was my ultimate favourite hotel/guest house of my time on North Island visit. ||Big thanks to James and his brother -- such nice people made my stay...

Yes, it's a home stay, not a Hotel. This could be better communicated, though the pictures do show rooms in a home! ||We weren't bothered by it.||Our room was clean and well appointed, facilities were clean and well presented, the shower had great pressure too.||Our host txt'd our security code and asked us to let him know when were had arrived, which we did, no problems getting in and were invited to make ourselves at home, which we did.||The deck was amazing and the lake is exactly 4.68 Kilometers around, yes, we walked it. ||For the price, it's well presented overall cleanliness and serviceability, location and proximity to everything, we've rated James's home stay 4 out of 5.||We would not hesitate to stay again.||Cheers James for a great place to stay at an...
