Kaikoura Gateway Motor Lodge — Hotel in Kaikōura

This studio was situated 3 metres from the main road . ( trucks every 15 min ) Very loud ! The room had no air flow , ventilation and fans . On a 30 degree day are you going to sleep with the door open … through the night .. so unsafe .. I emailed the owner of my concerns about how our accommodation was the worst we have ever experienced with one reason being above and many more to list . She responded with condescending comments and then deflected the situation by accusing us of staining the carpet . The worst most humiliating holiday EVER. Because of a travel hiccup, I ended having to book a hotel late in Kaikoura, and all that was showing on Expedia that had availability was this place. My mistake was to not see that check in ended at 8pm, yet I booked it at 10:30pm as Expedia would allow me to. Well, I showed up an hour later to a closed door and slept in my car that night. We were disappointed that the outlook from our motels was a concrete slab with car parks. The gentleman who presumably was one of the owners approached us on our return from having a meal in the township and told us not to disturb others or something similar.
