This business needs a course on customer service. This Hotel was a big recipient of $ for housing so called emergency housing candidates under the former Labour Government and was a social and crime Mecca. Move forward several months and they have done a physical refurbishment however there are hangovers from their dabble into social housing clientele. First off the pretty new carpet, furniture is ok. However the air conditioning unit in the lounge sounded like an air craft carrier and on quick inspection needed a massive clean of filters which we did, I imagine the others would be in the same state. The stove top dials to see temperatures controls are dated and faded, the oven tray so revolting it needs to be thrown out, the toaster did not work, lights were flickering on and off randomly, the toilet smelt of urine, the spa bth had pubic looking hair stuck in one pf the jets and door handles are crooked in many doors. Apparently they don’t clean on public holidays, which on Christmas Day I get, but not Boxing Day. The lady who knocked on our door replaced towels, did not remove rubbish, had no vacuum and was unable to resupply toilet paper. For over $300 per night to not even have toilet paper for a hotel seemed unbelievable. In the kitchen it is basic but needs cutting knives to go with the bread board and more than one tiny pot to cook with. The microwave was filthy. So are there positives? The balcony view of the little marina is pretty, location quiet, and parking easy. Overall service was substandard and given the many options in Napier if this location doesn’t get with the standards for the prices it is charging they are in trouble. I suggest if you have read this look at...
Read moreDespite the staff being very nice, we booked online and arrived to discover the Family Rooms were in fact...in the car park beside the road. Luckily we supplied our own bathroom products, because the free ones are the bottom grade. Towels were not replaced. You got one each to last a week. The Family Room was functional with all we needed, even a cot was supplied at an extra cost. Unfortunately, the beds were hard and springy, the bedside table was peeling its formica laminate, and the bedroom smelt strongly of vomit. Yes, someone else's vomit. But really why this gets such a poor review comes down to the Blue Water Hotel's most appalling restaurant. At eight in the morning it stank of rancid fat from the deep fryers. Not a single window was opened to clear the smell. I wonder if the staff have stopped noticing the stench? Despite being one of four customers, service was incredibly slow. I ordered toasted muesli with greek yoghurt and caramelized pears, and a coffee. An enormous bowl arrived fifteen minutes later, containing about 3 cups of muesli and half a pear. The milk to wet it was enough for one cup of tea - or about 2 tablespoons. No yoghurt.
After waiting a further 20 minutes for the coffee and tea to arrive (35 minutes since ordering) I went to the counter to enquire. I explained I had only allowed an hour for breakfast and needed to leave in 20 minutes. The waitress said she had completely forgotten the drinks and would ask the chef to make them. I can't rate the coffee because it never arrived. You would have to pay me very well to return. Its difficult to eat somewhere that smells...
Read moreBooked room online. Upon arrival, the receptionist was rude and abrupt. She gave us our room number but failed to point out which direction the room was. There was many rooms. We ended up asking a housekeeper for directions. Maybe they should switch roles?||After unpacking our food & belongings. We noticed there was no robes? Only 1 tea towel. The room had dust above pictures & room had a weird smell.||We had room booked for one night. Left Sunday Morning. I realised on Tuesday morning when I was getting ready for work that my hair straighteners were missing.. I realised that I have left them in the room that we stayed in. I called the receptionist at Blue Water and she said that she will talk to one of the housekeepers to see if the hair straighteners was in the room. She asked me for my name and number and would get back to me. She never did.. I ended up calling her a few times that day with no happy result.|I sent her a query online about the hair straighteners and she did not respond. I ended up calling again the following day and she told me that the room was only cleaned yesterday which was a Tuesday. Meaning that the room hadn’t been clean for two days after we had left. Therefore, nobody knew where the hair straighteners were. So where did they go? Not impressed. I would’ve not cared if it was a cheap pair of hair straighteners. A white and black GHDS inside a heat resistant rollup bag. Nobody knows what happened to the hair straighteners? It’s a...
