Absolutely excellent !! Being from out of town finding this gem was a highlight of our trip to napier! The staff were exceptional and so friendly nothing was an issue, seated and drinks came out promptly. We had the salt and pepper squid for our starter and it was Devine!!!! We eat s&p squid everywhere we go that has it on the menu. We actually base our restaurant choice on if it has it on the menu. We have eaten alot of squid dishes but this one was our very favourite!!!! Absolutely cooked to perfection so buttery melt in the mouth and the way it was done asain inspired was so good and we've never had it this way before with the teriyaki and Japanese mayo WOW! onto the main course I had the seafood chowder which was actually an entree but was sooooooooo delicious and the perfect portion for me with prawns, fish, mussels, salmon and the most velvety creamy sauce it was very good. My fiance had the burger he said was good but needed a special sauce to Amp it up to be amazing. The only negative we could say was it did take a long time to recieve our starter about 40 mins and then about 1hr 15m to recieve our main. However the staff were really apologetic for the wait which went along way for us to be acknowledged. Would highly recommend this restaurant and would be first on our list to stop in next time we are in town thanks again š

Visited just after Christmas when most places were still closed for the holiday, as such it was very busy and you needed a booking to get in. As it was busy it took an hour before our starters arrived, as a way of apology we got the garlic bread free š. I had fresh green muscles which were delicious š. The vegetarian burger was disappointing along with the fries. The roast pork my wife had was very fatty (she doesn't like fat) and didn't include roast potatoes like she was expecting š. The seafood extravaganza, lamb shank and Caesar salad were delicious and enjoyed by the others in our party. There were some really nice deserts All the staff were friendly and exceptionally helpful. I would highly recommend the moctail drinks, they were delicious if you fancy some Summer Loving or a Tropicana 𤪠Would come again when they were less busy.

We tried to book a restaurant on arguably the busiest day of the year, and no one was answering their phone. So we took a punt and tried to walk in somewhere but were turned away by many. That is until we got to the Thirsty Whale. Even though they were bursting at the seams and we had to line up, the owner was amazing. She was so friendly and accommodating and got us a table almost immediately even though it was so chaotic with people trying to get in, many without bookings like us. The staff were great and the service was amazing given how busy it was. We were well attended to and our meals came out in a good time. The meals were top quality and very generous. Well done to you!

First time eating here and I have to say, it was definitely one of the best eat out experiences Iāve had here in the bay. Highly recommend, will be one of my regulars now, prices are fair and staff were lovely. Bathroom facilities were very clean. Absolutely loved the mushroom garlic sauce on my steak. Thank yous for a great experience, will be returning again soon with the family, childrenās menu looks awesome as well and has something for all kids to enjoy. Also the cheesecake and vanilla ice cream was easily my favourite dessert, Iāve ordered many cheesecakes from other restaurants and none of them compare to thirsty.

My husband and I came here with high hopes and expectations based on all the great google reviews but were highly disappointed. The seafood extravaganza was bland and lacking flavour and super dry. The chowder was basically just cream. Even the pizza garlic bread was a disappointment. I had the ice cream trio for dessert which was fine, but the fruit is definitely an unnecessary item in this dessert! We really didnāt think it was worth the 90 something dollars we spent here. It has so much potential and I hope changes will be made to make this place better than what it is now!
