When I booked at Shed 2, I saw in quotes “award winning menu” and was surprised when I walked in at 4:45 and was able to make a booking for 7:30 the same day. I was happy We were seated at our table promptly, and nothing else would be done promptly for the rest of our experience.
We waited for about 15 mins to be served drinks (not even water, which was never served to the empty glasses on our table) and that was after I went to bar and asked if I had to order there. We put in our food and drink order around 7:40: one starter and the rest of food as mains. We got the drinks after 7 mins and the starter after 10 mins, no complaints there. This is when the problems started.
A pizza and a chicken burger was served to an empty table next to us, and I had to fend off seagulls thinking someone had gone to the bathroom while their food came. Eventually the closest to a manger there seemed to be at the place ridiculed a waitress and the waitress brought that food to the kitchen.
If our host or waitress had come to our table and said, “there’s an hour plus wait for food”, I wouldn’t have had any problem; however, 9 pm rolled around and I told the host (the waitresses had been avoiding eye contact and checking out table for about 45 mins at this point), “look if the food doesn’t come in 10 mins at this point, I’ll pay for the starter and the drinks” I paid the bill around 9:10, afterwards we finished our drinks and left. We then went to McDonalds, cause at that point it was the only place that was still serving.
I’ve worked and still work in hospo since I was old enough to bus tables, I never get angry at staff cause it isn’t their fault and it doesn’t solve anything, but there was obviously a lack of organization or someone who wasn’t willing to admit they’d made a mistake with our order. I’m sad cause I only get a few days off a year, and my parents were visiting from abroad and I gave them a...
Read moreSuch a shame. Great looking bar. I’ve been going there for 5 years as they play the rugby. Today I booked in 5 people to watch the Warriors play and asked if they’d be showing it. They said yes. After arriving buying a round of drinks (even when we did that we had to go to the bar and it was like they were doing you a huge favor )and ordering some food they refused to put the sound up from a whisper so you could hear it. After politely asking for the third time ( after they did nothing the previous 2times) and after not getting any response they said they weren’t having the sound on any further stating people were coming for dinner. The group at the table behind us also asked saying at least put the sound up until others arrived. (As there was hardly anyone there) We left and they made us pay for the ordered but undelivered meal. I was glad to get out. They didn’t care at all that we did. Even though the place was fairly empty. I’d not comment here but after the dozens of times and hundreds of dollars per time I’ve passed over that counter I’ve never had a thank you, did you enjoy your meal, a smile or anything like it. (Other than one time they had s brilliant person behind the bar who remembered what you drank and was engaging.) If the owners want to sell this bar I suggest new owners change the name and get rid of certain staff (they don’t want to be there anyway) as they are wrecking the good name of Napier and the area. We won’t be going back. I feel sorry for the owners. Unless of course it was he who stands...
Read moreWe could see why this is an award winning restaurant, the food was absolutely delicious and we ordered 6 different meals and none of them disappointed. Our waitress Bree was an absolute gem offering her advice on good recommendations , sadly the only reason why we did not give this restaurant 5 stars was the poor service received from Yasmin when we entered the restaurant she handed us menu's and said we can sit wherever we wanted ( what you expect from fast food places and this restaurantis certainlynot), she seated various other clients to their tables, she also served us someof the food and was not the least bit friendly throughout in comparison to the other 2 waitresses that served us.whom were superb.
I hope this review reaches the management of this lovely restaurant
"I would like to change my review from 3 stars to 1 star following the response as received from the Owner Dennis. I would like to correct Dennis as the restaurant was not busy when we walked in probably 50% occupancy or less when we walked at approx 18:30, I work in an industry that has probably been hardest hit by the Covid pandemic and struggling with major resources shortage however we do not make excuses (like Dennis in his response) but rather own it and still drive to obtain customer satisfaction. I would advise patrons to rather visit The Gintrap a few metres away, service, vibe and food is far better...
