Harbour View Motel — Hotel in Napier

Good facilities and lovely comfortable rooms. The only issue was the way the manager handled our departure. We were there for a work conference, and we had been socializing on the front lawn drinking. If we had been told of this issue at the time we would have packed up and gone back to our rooms but to be yelled at on the morning of departure over this was rather unfair. Also the night before we left, we had been out, arriving back at around Midnight, I will admit we were a little loud but if any of the neighbors had come over and said can you please be quiet, again we would have gone back to our rooms. I feel the manager handled this unwell and could have had a conversation with us surrounding this issue instead of just yelling...

Reception was friendly. Parking easy. I requested a second floor room which I got. Room 19. A studio. It was big, with a couch, dinning table with two chairs, out door chairs and table, two side chairs, a kitchenette. Bathroom is large with a large spa bath. Overall every thing was clean, and the room smelt fresh. Location is great with views out into the bay, and there is a balcony to enjoy them from.

A couple of negatives. No extractor fan in the bathroom. A noisy wall mounted fan heater. Several broken window catches. The front door doesn't close tight and whistles with the wind. But these small negatives hugely out weigh the price I paid for the room. So still definitely a 5...

We went on a spontaneous weekend getaway without booking a place to stay. We drove from Auckland to Taupo and then headed to Hawkes Bay to check out some popular wineries. After a few ( a few) ) glasses of wine, we decided to find somewhere to crash, and that's when we found Harbour View Lodge. It caught our eye because of the location—the beach view right from our balcony was awesome, plus it was close to cafes, restaurants, and a mall.
