Ok- so I wasn't going to write a review but now I have to. Yesterday my girlfriend and I went to MK cafe, a nice little cafe with just a few nice people eating there, we were greeted by nice staff and shown the menu, we had a look over it in the more private seating area out the back, very nice and sunny with a cool breeze. anyway we ordered the lamb burger and pan cakes, I also try the iced coffee everywhere I go, and well, the pancakes were really good, I didn't run out of anything; enough cream, and syrup, bacon and banan. the burger was gone in a flash before I got to try it 😂 and the chef was happy to answer questions my girlfriend had in a very nice and friendly manner.... And the ice coffees! Definitely a top quality beverage!! .. but all of this isn't why I'm writing this review.. I order a pie to take away, just a classic new zealand steak and cheese .. I heated it up this morning,. 2min in the microwave, and then about a min or 2 in the little grill as they told me to do. .. and well.. I'm crying 😭😭😭 it's the best by far steak and cheese pie iv ever had, it's actually steak!! Like you guys need to try it.. iv tried every steak and cheese pie, I even wrote and acted in a play totally about pies .. .. .. thank you mk cafe, iv never cried over food,...

Stumbled across this gem 5 or so years ago and when we returned to Napier over the weekend for a holiday, we went out of our way to try and find it again! Called and spoke to Mike asking if he could accomodate our group of 8 without a prior booking and he was most helpful and welcoming. When we arrived a table was set up ready for us. Food was 10/10, service 10/10, promptness 10/10 and we were so pleased to find our fav little hidden cafe in the heart of ahuriri was still open & operating with the same owner. Kids’ breakfasts/iced choc’s were large and had heaps of small touches that the kids loved (like a little jug for maple syrup and cream and butter on the side), cute jugs for the iced chocs etc. Between us adults we ordered a range of breakfast options and were all very impressed with presentation, taste and size for price. Lots of hearty seafood options too. We will be back…. Because you have such a good thing going!!...

Looking for somewhere to have Bruch this morning I asked some friends who are more experienced in that area 😉 They suggested MK CAFE in Ahuriri so I thought I’d pop down & try them out. Boy am glad I listened!! The Creamed Pāua & Fry Bread was bloody delicious!! 😋. Date scone with a soft centre that inc: Maple syrup, REAL butter & cream on the side, with a Mango/Banana smoothie to top it off! Everything was so blinking tasty & delicious 😋🤤 I’m still on a high from the Creamed Pāua, that was the shizzel!! 🤤🤤🤤 I’ll be back & highly recommend you try them out too! Very friendly service, great atmosphere with a beautiful breeze, stunning food, family & pet friendly without being intrusive, hop skip & jump away from beach or Boats if you wanna walk on it off! Localised to everything really 😁😁 On top of all this great stuff they also support...

e dropped in this morning for breakfast. It was stormy and bucketing down. The Cafe looks humble but what they do is anything but! They have a huge breakfast menu with most of the usual options, but take it up a gear with some genuine Maaori kai (food) and rhe chef's own take on it. I grabbed a boil up pie, with genuine bacon bones. Pai rawe! Outstanding. My mate had the best lambs fry and bacon I have ever tasted (I sneaked some.from his plate), and I had the Big Bennie, which came.with a homemade hash cake of his own invention. He puts so much arohaa (love ) into his cooking, and obviously creates each serving with a wonderful intention. This has to be the best breakfast I have eaten in a long time. O, and not to forget the coffee. Simply perfect. Outstanding.

Beautiful presentation on the food. I had the “MK big Benedict” eggs were PERFECTLY cooked, bacon, perfect! The only issue was the lambs fry it came with, not what I expect of lambs fry, seemed like it was frozen, or vacuum packed. Just dry. Rocky road slice was very hard to get through, was quite hard to get into it so didn’t finish it, same with lambs fry. Coffee was good no complaints there. Service was pretty alright, didn’t feel like I was really connecting with the place. Other than that, thank you guys, I get hospo is hard coming from someone who works three hospo jobs in three different departments x
