This is what Dining out is about! Only one other Indian restaurant in Aotearoa has given me such a pleasant and perfected dining experience, and that was in Te Waipounamu! In other restaurants while dining alone, I have been ignored, or just treated as though I'm not worthy of quality service like everyone else, but at Master of India Napier I was welcomed and directed to a comfortable spot and asked if that was to my liking. I was served within a respectable time-frame considering how busy the restaurant was that night.
The paneer pakora was absolutely delicious as a starter, and the main course of Baingan Masala (eggplant) was served in a copper bucket instead of the usual small traditional copper karahi, which was a surprise, but a really interesting change, and I also suspect this slightly larger bucket held more, so ultimately I think it was worth it!
Prices are only slightly dearer at this restaurant, but for the excellent meals, wonderful staff, and perfect dining experience, there is no question about returning - it's a must do!

Read moreI mean, I always seem to be the unfortunate one who dines with a bunch. Firstly, the chairs are not suitable for people with big thighs, the tops of the legs dig into you as the cushion part of the chair sinks down. There needs to be a better seat option. If we take our own cushion, we cant fit under the table as theres a bar in the way, so best they have special chairs to accommodate us. Secondly, everyone's curries were superb yet mine which wasn't curry tasted, well not normal. I didnt eat much, didnt mention anything either and took a doggy bag home out of pleasantness. And thirdly, we are there to dine in an Indian restaurant, we expect to hear Indian music, not crappy Katy Perry crap. Own your place with pride. Service was excellent, room temp was great. Just my 3 points that need addressing. Oh and must mention, my partner swears by the garlic narn as it's so different with a crispy bottom. ...

I went for dinner with my partner last friday. We got there and the server greets us with a "how can I help you" as we enter the restaurant. Like really?? How can I help you?? She was young and quite rude to be honest. After a bit she took our order and disappear, we never saw her again. We order an appy and an entre. We got our first dish and after like 15 min my partner had to get up and ask to get the second to come because they never checkes on us or even walked around the restaurant . The funny thing was that it was just us. No one else was in the restaurant. It was one of the worst indian foods we had tasted and the worst service ever. I honestly came here very excited because I read the reviews, but never again we will be back. Just terrible. I don't know how customer service can be so bad. It just...
