Well what an interesting place this is. Location is ok. It is a good 10 odd minute walk to the main food area in Nelson. They have parking onsite for guests. Umm, I’m looking for more positives. It’s ok if you really need a place to sleep or sneak away for a quick affair with a prostitute like you see in American movies. If you are looking for a place that is romantic or clean and well maintained this place is not for you. Reception area is cluttered and not a good impression of what is about to come. It even has a nice big broken mirror to great you. Oh well, at least I was offered milk that wasn’t expired. You are pointed to your room area and then left to experience the rest of your journey. Heading up to the room you head up some dirty concrete stairs that once again looks like something out of an American horror movie. There is even a dirty old chair to great you as you enter the staircase. I was half expecting someone like Jason to jump out at me. So far not a good start but remaining positive I entered the room hoping for better. I would like to say it got better but unfortunately I would be lying to you. The room looks tired but they have tried to make an effort to make it look better by some of the furniture and the flooring looks nice (ish). If only they were clean, sigh. Bed is cheap and not very comfortable but at least most of the bedding was clean. Unfortunately one of the decorative covers is dirty. Housekeeping could do with some attention. Back and bottom of chairs dusty, corners and edges of carpet dirty and dusty and for the love of all things holy, DO NOT look under the bed. The kitchen sink drain still has someone else’s food in it from who knows how long ago. Cups dirty and stained with tea. Bathroom, where do I start. For some reason someone else’s hair keeps showing up everywhere, it’s like some kind of magic show and to make it clear, I’m almost bald so unless the magic show grew me some hair then it is definitely someone else’s. Drains are mostly blocked from who knows what. The there is the dirt and mould and something splattered on the door. This entire place is getting very old with little maintenance being done to it. It still has single pain windows so nothing to block the noise from the busy street outside. No bathroom fan or heater, a very noisey old fridge and the list just goes on. I’m sorry but there are not many nice things to say about this place. Posted this back in 2023 but not visible to anyone for some reason.

Booked a 2 night stay at the Kings Gate Motel as I was attending a conference at the nearby Trafalgar Centre. The motel is in a good location, only a 5 minute walk to the Trafalgar Centre and only 10 minutes from the CBD which is great. The room was a good size with separate lounge area and had everything I needed for my stay. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The only downside was the shower which seemed to have quite low pressure. Friendly staff and there is parking on site if needed. Would stay again.

Nice little hotel, in our 2 bedroom single beds were way too soft for comfortable sleep but double bed was OK. Not too far from the city, just a nice kiwi motel

As the third person from the room that was not up to scratch in the previous reviews, I was not going to post until your unprofessional approach accused us of lieing. You where told in the a.m that the room was not in a good condition, where I should have banged on your door at 11.30pm when we went to bed to discover hair in the main bed witch looked to be as if the bed was just remaid and not washed. Then to sleep on the fold out couch that's matress is basically stuffed. Cheers I would have much rather sleeped in the main bed then crammed with my partner and a 15yo boy!. Accept your negative reviews without the b.s to cover it up. Not once was a refund asked for when there or I would have been the one in the office not my partner,

*train your cleaning staff to professional standards *scratch up on your customers service *Accept your mistakes and take...
