Devonwood Manor Motel — Hotel in North Island

Do not stay at Devonwood resort Rotorua. We had the worst motel stay ever when staying at this motel on Sunday the 29th of January. First of all the unit had ripped towels, no flannels & the doors did not shut or lock. The motel had booked in busloads of Chinese who made a racquet , when they arrived even tho there are signs saying be quiets & respectful to others. I informed management & was told to deal with it myself & bang on their doors. At 5 am one of them was banging on all the doors including ours, waking the whole complex up. As this happened a screaming fight started which made it worse , I got out of bed to complain to management & once again was told to deal with it myself , which at this point I had enough & yelled at them , we ended up paying up at 6 am & leaving. Misleading business practice between motel and Bookit their online booking service. Have never experienced this before and will never book with again. Be aware there are 2 differing cancellation policies, one for their booking service and one for the motel which is not stated on their website . Have never had such a dodgy service from a motel before where there's 2 different cancellation policies and a booking operator who takes $20 for "operating costs". Please it's a service the motel pays for and the customer shouldn't be penalised or charged at time of booking for that matter. DODGY. I stayed here and it's not worthy of a star at all. Tried to check in at approximately 1pm on the day of my stay but after standing at reception and pressing the bell a number of times no one came to help us.

Two hours later we came back to try and check in with the same result as the first time except this time I tried to call them via the phone - still no one came.

By this point if I could get a hold of anyone I was about to let them know that I was not interested in staying there.

To cut a long story short - we ended up staying there but wish that I had never.

Our room number was 409 and during the night found that the room had "MICE" running around in it (I saw these with my own eyes).

I definitely would not recommend this...
