Sport of Kings Motel — Hotel in North Island

A wonderful motel that has everything you need for a comfortable stay. All the staff were super friendly and helpful and would always listen to my kids life stories, haha. It's very central and within 5-10 minutes drive of most of the attractions.

The beds and pillows were lovely and we had a full kitchen. I found the fridge and freezer weren't overly cold so I turned the fridge right down to 1 and put everything at the back. Our iceblocks and frozen chips actually defrosted in the top drawer of the freezer so I moved everything to the bottom drawer which worked better.

The pool is heated but it was surprisingly still refreshing, even on the 30+ degree days that we were there. We swam every day for at least an hour, the kids LOVED it. There is also a private spa available to hire. I didn't use it this visit as I don't really want to be locked in a room with 3 small children, lol.

There is a laundry available for use, just see reception for instructions and washing powder. There is a dryer available for those cold, wet days.

The only negative I would have is that our room wasn't serviced (that I could tell) for the 5 days we were there. That being said, it wasn't a massive deal and it isn't hard to take out our rubbish and recycling to the bins. The staff were crazy busy with people coming and going, and having worked in this area myself I know how stressful it can be.

We arrived at reception, and were greeted with the warmest welcome.

On booking I mentioned it was for an Anniversary, when shown to our room, it was super special to see 2x red helium balloons and a heart chocolate on our bed. Personal touch that started our stay with so much positivity.

Our room was great with our own spa, bed was comfortable, lovely sheets, spa towels, coffee and milk etc, our room was serviced, towels changed etc that was appreciated.

Heated pool was a treat, wasn't too hot was extremely clean as was the area.

The location was great all the things we wanted to do were no more than 15mins away, the motel was also quiet, although it was full it was prefect.

We would absolutely book again, and would recommend your motel to our whanau & friends

The only recommendation I would make is some type of air con or additional fan (one small fan was in wardrobe) would be helpful during the hotter months

A great location in Rotorua, being close to the centre of town, but out enough to not hear it. Upon arrival we were provided a small bottle of milk, and offered some freshly ground coffee, which was very welcome after the long drive from Wellington in the rain. The managers were very helpful and pleasant in all dealings we had with them. Lovely heated pool to help soothe the body after the drive. There were 2 spas on site which you can lock the doors to so you can have a private spa if you wish. Plenty of towels provided for both bathing and swimming. Although the units were a bit dated, it had been renovated and updated kitchens, bathrooms and the like. The only downside is that it's a little pokey to get your car into the rear to park if you're in one of the back units.
