Wow! What a place :)
All I can do is rave about this place. Sure there are few niggles, but Arista of Rotorua punches WELL above it's weight.
I had a free night owing on my Hotels account, so decided to stop over in Rotorua for the night. My usual place was booked out, as was many other accommodation providers. Arista had one room left which was a larger family apartment. More than what this solo traveller needed, but I liked the look of it, so I booked in.
Very friendly greeting from the lady at Reception, who walked me over to my room and showed me the various features. Parking is directly outside each of the rooms. My apartment was very light and airy, making it's large size, feel even larger. There is a large Kitchenette, with everything you would need to cook a decent meal, and there was PROPER milk! It also had a large dining table.
Next to a King Bed there is a large Sofa and a couple of easy chairs in front of a large TV. The TVs are well set up with all the Freeview Channels. You can also Cast your Streaming Apps to the TV which is awesome. The Internet is very fast and I had no issues connecting to the Telly, and also streaming Series and Movies in HD.
A ranch slider out the back leads to a very private, enclosed courtyard with a Spa Tub. Upstairs in the apartment is a Mezzanine level which features a large walk in wardrobe, 2 Single Beds, One Queen Bed and another large Telly.
A large air conditioning unit kept the whole unit nice and cool, on what was a very muggy and hot night. The Bathroom is dated, but has been spruced up.
My only niggles were with some of the Mugs and Cutlery which were not very clean, and also the windows which were all really filthy! Especially the ones facing Fenton Street. All small things :)
What I really really loved was how the Owners shared their journey with the purchase and renovation of what was a very dated Motel, and also their personal journey with their Son's health battles. There was a well presented little book in the room, and also on the TV infotainment page.. I have spent so much time at Starship and Ronald McDonald House over the years. The RMH Charity is one very close to my heart, and to see Arista supporting them makes me want to rate them 11/10!
Keep up the amazing work Arista Team. I look forward to a return visit. :) Do not hesitate to book in here - even if your just a solo traveller and have no need for a massive family unit - you will love it...

Read moreWhen searching for a place to stay in Rotoura, we had a hard time finding options other than motels or the Polynesian Spa. We wanted something in between and took a chance on the Arista. We were not disappointed. We booked the One Bedroom Mezzanine which had a kitchenette, bathroom and living room downstairs and the bedroom with a queen bed and 2 twin beds upstairs. The unit wasn't brand new, but it was clean and well appointed.
One of the best benefits was the local knowledge of the front desk staff. He knew pretty much every option to be explored in a 20-mile radius, and he had discount offers at all of them. Don't be afraid to ask. They will make sure you are taken care of.
There is a washer and dryer on-site but plan ahead because lots of the guests take advantage of it.
The shower in the bathroom does not have a door or a ledge around the edge on the floor, just a curtain, so the bathroom floor ends up very wet and slippery.
Be aware that the unit does not have air conditioning, so there's no way to block out the smell during the summer months. On some days it is barely noticeable, but on others it can be very strong.
Another thing to note (and they do spell this out on the website) is that the free wi-fi only includes 3GB in a 24-hour period. Anyone with teenagers knows that can be exhausted just by checking SnapChat several times. You pay for additional usage...
