So I do not take my reviews of hotels or establishments lightly. So my wife and myself honeymooned here 2 years after we married due to unforseen circumstances not being done prior. I will say we booked our accomodation through booking.com. so please heed my warning twice we have booked through booking.com and have been utterly disappointed both times promised via nice photos that the hotel selected is on point. I'm afraid this is literally not the case. So obviously this was important getaway for my wife and myself, but I am very disheartened on this review I am about to give through booking.com we reserved this hotel room and requested a room with at minimum spa bath, and told the hotel it was a honeymoon event here is where this review goes down hill. So we did request a room with a spa bath and an extra request with an ice bowl and a bottle of average bubby to celebrate.this was fine to we checked in. So the check in was easy and seemless nice lobby friendly staff who acknowledged our request. We were lead to believe the hotel restaurant was open basically 24/7 however when asked at the desk the restaurant was closed and only room service was available on specific days, hmm we did request the breakfast package which seen us fed in the mornings that's where the surprise ended. The breakfast was in point I cannot fault it,however after a long day touring the sites of Tauranga my wife wanted to have a spa bath which we had requested. I ran her the bath being a decent husband and whence it became time to turn the spa on it did not work. We did have other electrical issues in our room also but that may be a whole nother story. Any way I contacted reception about the unoperating spa bath and was dismissed almost immediately. I did complain to reception the following day about the spa incident. And was basically told we don't advertise our spa bath rooms as most do not work and we do not offer this service unless requested which it was by my wife but we still received a room without a working spa bath, beyond disappointment to be honest and the hotel did not a thing to rectify this situation. End note being do not stay at this hotel unless your excited for disappointment, and do not use booking.com. all my reviews are based on honest observations and so called factual information supplied by 3rd party agencies so my best advice is to go straight to the hotel themselves however do not be disappointed if they also lie to you,you have been warned value for money has become a thing of...
Read moreI arrived after a day of traveling from Wellington by public transport. My day started at 5am. My stay was organized by phone, fully paid for in advance and confirmed by phone two days prior to my arrival about 7pm. At reception I was asked for photo ID. I don't have one on me, Drivers licence? no not driving in Tauranga. Company policy photo ID At no time prior was I told I needed one. Looking later I found nothing on the website. The question was repeated over and over as if I didn't understand until I lost my temper, raised my voice and asked, audible to a group in reception, ARE YOU GOING TO PUT ME OUT ON THE STREET? I was given the room. I received no apology, at any time then or during my five night stay, and had the room not been paid for I would have left and found somewhere else to stay.
I AM 80YEARS and travel alone. I have stayed in hotels in London, France, Germany, Auckland, Invercargill and Tauranga, never have I been asked for photo ID.
the room was ok except for a long black hair in the shower (my hair is short grey) which I asked and got cleaning staff to remove next day. They apologized
The restaurant was only open for dinner one night, but I was out one night when it may have been open. Signage indicated bar and restaurant closed Thursday to Sunday when in fact bar was open and for food. Not a very interesting menu and nothing like on the website.
I had coffee delivered by room service each morning on wakening as only instant in room. This is fine. However Saturday morning I was told they don't do room service coffee!! I just said, yes you do and hung up. Waited and it was delivered. Again no apology.
I think management need to upgrade staff training at the very least.
I would not recommend this hotel. Especially if you travel without photo ID. I...
Read moreIâm incredibly disappointed with my recent stay at Hotel Armitage. From start to finish, the experience was unpleasant and far below expectations, especially since I had brought my grandmother, who was leaving her home for the first time in 10 years, to spend time with family.
We checked in late, around 8 PM, and were greeted by a staff member who seemed uninterested in helping us and took an unnecessarily long time to process our check-in. Upon entering the room, we were immediately hit with a strong odor, which made it clear that the windows hadnât been opened or the carpet properly cleaned.
The room itself was uncomfortable. The mattress was so bad that my grandmother couldnât sleep, and the iron provided in the room was broken. To make matters worse, the building seemed outdated, with an old lift that felt unsafe and unsettling noises throughout the night. The noise level in general was disruptive and only added to the stress of our stay.
At 1 AM, we received a call from a staff member asking how many people were in our room and insisting that our family visitors leave. This caused my mother to have a panic attack, leaving us all distressed for the rest of the night. My grandmother was so upset by the whole experience that she now insists on returning home to Auckland.
I had high hopes for this hotel based on the friendly booking experience online, but the reality was extremely disappointing. For the price we paid, we expected much better service, cleanliness, and hospitality. Unfortunately, this was one of the most unpleasant stays weâve ever had, and I wouldnât recommend Hotel...
