Golden Rice Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in North Island

Walked in to order takeaway on a Sunday night - very quiet and can see location means they may get overlooked, as just down the street near the water other bars and restaurants were pumping. It's a shame because the restaurant looks very nice inside, classic Thai restaurant decor, probably a nice ambience when dining in! We ordered a chicken pad thai and some sides such as spring rolls and curry puffs. They were ready very quickly and were still hot 20 minutes later when we began eating. The pad thai was generous, exactly what I needed, lots of chicken and heavy noodles, but I thought there was a slight lack of flavour. Just a bit more flavour and it would have been perfect. The curry puffs and spring rolls were themselves perfect, and the service from the team was genuine and friendly, as well as quick, so I still give 5 stars and assume the slight lack of flavour to be a one-off :) will definitely try them again next...

Went with my husband. Cozy atmosphere, friendly staffs. Very Delicious Food!! But yes, the price is .... a bit wallet-heart-breaking comparing to the portion (Tauranga price maybe)

We ordered: Mixed entree platter: you get 1 piece of each entree option. Spring roll is nice! Sweet and sour fish: yummy but ... where is my fish 🥲 I think we got 2-3 small pieces for an already-small dish. Panaeng lamb curry: highly recommended Pad see eiw: perfect noodle (a bit thick and chewy, not too soft like other places) Honey duck: I think this is 1 duck breast. yummy, but I think a bit too much sauce.

Each dish come with a small portion of rice (except entree and noodle).

I’m so thrilled to have discovered this gem of a Thai restaurant right here in Tauranga! From the moment we walked in, the service was incredibly warm and welcoming — the staff are genuinely friendly and make you feel right at home.

The food? Absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried was bursting with authentic flavours and beautifully presented. You can really taste the freshness and care in the cooking. It’s clear the chefs know what they’re doing — truly some of the best Thai food I’ve had anywhere.
