I recently chose the Newina in Rotorua to celebrate my birthday and spent two delightful days there. Here are my thoughts on the experience:
The hotel is perfectly located, just a few steps away from shopping and dining options, making it easy to find something quick to eat or to pick up essentials.
The infrastructure is impressive, with recently renovated rooms that are comfortable, clean, and airy. The heated pool is a fantastic feature, allowing for year-round enjoyment—we loved using it in November!
Another highlight was the well-organized parking, which made our stay stress-free compared to experiences I've had elsewhere.
Our room had all the basic amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The bed was particularly cozy, and the shower was fantastic.
I also want to commend the staff—they were exceptionally kind and helpful, always ready to assist us with anything we needed. We were very pleased with the level of service we received.
I believe there are a few areas for improvement that could enhance the experience even further. Firstly, the breakfast could use some adjustments to better meet guests' expectations. Additionally, having a smart TV in the room would allow for convenient access to Netflix and other streaming services, which would definitely elevate the stay.
Lastly, it might be helpful to add a note in the rooms indicating that it takes at least 45 minutes to fill the outdoor bathtub. Guests coming from the pool might expect to use it immediately and could be disappointed if they're unaware of the long wait.
Overall, we had a wonderful time and would happily recommend the Newina to others. They truly deserve the...
Read moreMy friends and I stayed in this hotel yesterday and had an unforgettable bad experience. We leave this bad review here, hoping that other guests will be vigilant.
During our stay, we had a serious dispute with the boss (reception). He accused us of smoking vape in the room and treating us in an extremely rude and aggressive manner without evidence. Although we tried to communicate in a friendly manner, he had a bad attitude, even threatened to call the police, and said bad words.
This unreasonable treatment makes us very shocked and disappointed. As guests, we expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, rather than being inexplicably accused and insulted. I understand that as a boss, you may have really spent your life savings to run this hotel, but that's not the reason why you can treat guests like this. Every bad review on Google says that your service is terrible and unreasonable to treat guests. If you really want to run this hotel well, I suggest you apply for a professional reception.
To sum up, I strongly recommend that other guests think twice and choose to stay in this hotel carefully. Because not only is the quality of service disappointing, but also the unreasonable behavior of the reception is...
Read moreWe had trouble checking into this motel as the house keeping had not finished and this was at 2.30 in the afternoon. We went for a drive and came back and were able to check in. The room was very clean but very small there were cooking facilities but the size of the pots were very small so had to go and buy a bigger one as there were three of us and we were cooking spaghetti and needed a bigger pot. There was a spa out the back of the unit but the door was hard to open. The shower was over the bath and the price they charged for the accommodation was very dear and not up to the standard of the charges. They are charging 5 star rates for something that is only about three stars. The car parking is very small and you have to put up a sign saying what park you are in. The one good thing they do have a washing machine and clothes dryer for guests which we used. They were clean. The lady on reception was not very friendly when we tried to first check in. Our room was serviced on the second day but for what they are charging you would expect this and also clean towels and fresh...
