Koutu Fish Shop — Local services in North Island

A little disappointed my partner and I ordered a special. Not only have they put the prices up by $1 but this is the littlest amount we’ve ever received. We’ve come here a few times because they’re fish is pretty good but they are so stingy with the amount of chips they give. Not only that they were a little rude to us no how is your day and we used our manners the guy was a little passive aggressive towards us. When another customer came in his persona just changed he was bubbly and asked how his day was and smiled where as he could barley look at us. The guy who gave out chips was a little rude to i went to say something about how small the size was and he just said byeee byeee and walked away. All I have to say is don’t come here if you have a big family or even two people prepare to have to pay a ridiculous amount just for a decent amount in Auckland or elsewhere you wouldn’t see such a...

We are from out of town, so did a Google and there were a few closer to town but reviews were a little up and down then we found this one. Oh my the chips are amazing crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, the fish was hoki but not dry it was beautiful. The Koutu burger - a bacon and cheese were nice just a lot of meat and buns my husband loved his being the koutu, I would of liked bit more lettuce, tomato and maybe beetroot. Oh before I forget the fish and potato fritters batter was delicious, not many do it with herbs in the batter anymore. But all and all highly recommend as very tasty. Wow-what a great surprise hidden away in a suburban street! Fantastic chips- good crunch but soft and fluffy on inside. Fish also good! Burgers fab. And all very cheap!!! Not touristy pricey place like every where else. We are visitors to Rotorua and were at skyline Rotorua with an hour wait. I took kids to this nearby fish n chip shop. Only 4 minutes drive from skyline car park. Highly recommend if in area. We went at lunchtime on Sunday. Pick up chips then drive to lakeside I reckon....
