I had a terrible stay here a couple weeks ago. I arrived and found a drunk guy with beer bottles everywhere. I phoned the owner, Kevin however nothing was done. The shared shower was smelly and not very clean, especially bathmat. I wasn't feeling comfortable due to other guest so I left for a few hours for dinner. I then went to bed but was woken at 2am by the drunken guest who told me he had lost his keys and needed to get in. In the morning I explained this to the owner who told me he was very sorry, and that he had proceeded to cleaning the beer bottles up. When I asked Kevin about a refund he said no, as he couldn't control anything that has happened on this evening. Very disappointing stay and subsequent outcome to this. Felt more like a backpackers than comfortable bed and breakfast.

Read moreThe perfect place to stay! For an excellent price, we had a huge room with an en suite bathroom. The owner was very friendly and showed us all of the house amenities--a TV room with Netflix, a huge kitchen with cereal/bread/fruit whenever you were ready in the morning, good wifi, etc. We stayed here between a visit to the Hobbiton movie set and Orokei thermal park. The B+B is a 5 min walk to the downtown area, where we ate at a great craft beer restaurant called Good Union -- outdoor garden area, good food, and lots of beers/ciders. There are walking paths along a lake nearby as well. Would highly recommend...
