I asked to be away from people & was initially placed right in the middle of the hub of the corner where the rooms filled up first so I asked to move which she accommodated for $17 extra. It was a good motel to stay at as right next to it the glow worms are & they are magically beautiful. It was at the end of town but a quick walk to go get food & a drive to the Lake (don't walk it-unless you are super fit!) it is a long way & the actual walk is an hour but it is so gorgeous. The town was nice & friendly. They had loads of middle rooms empty but put someone right next to me. Lucky they were quiet. I was grateful. As always on checkout time from 8am there was car and door slammings as is a motel & the thudding through the room of the cleaners but so be it, it is a motel. The room was clean and decent. The host was friendly. A note to the host, maybe put a 'go fund me' up (google if you haven't heard of it) & get a third opinion! xx for your darling dog, you could raise the money My heart goes out to your...
Read moreEasy to find, clean, motel. Our room had a small kitchenette area and basic utensils and cookware. Microwave, small refrigerator and a tea/coffee hot water pot were the appliances. Good for warming stuff up or simple soups but not much more, which for us was perfectly fine.||Bathroom was roomy with a nice enclosed shower stall. Bed was comfortable. the sleeping area was a little tight, but doable.||We were on the second floor and sometimes could hear others either voices or toilets flushing, so the walls may not be highly efficient in soundproofing.||There are not many places to stay in Fox Glacier, and this is centrally located to the few restaurants, general store, and a walking loop where there are glowworms. Host/Manager was very helpful with recommendations for things to do/see and places to eat.||Good for night or two during a west coast trip. For more options for places to stay/eat, Franz Josef, about a 40 minute drive north, would be a...
Read moreThis is a quaint hotel in Fox Glacier. The rooms are clean and the staff is very friendly. I was concerned that I was going to hear my neighbors throughout the night as it was not that quiet when they first arrived. However, I didn't hear anything at night. When you check in they provide a map of all the local attractions to see along the road on the west side between Queenstown and for us Christchurch. They have some great hikes right there in Fox Glacier and there is a short hike right next to the hotel to see lots of glowworms after dark. It is not a "high class" hotel but the rooms are clean, the beds are comfy, the staffing are extremely friendly and the location is great. I would stay again and would recommend to those driving along the west side of...
