The White Pub Cafe & Bar — Restaurant in West Coast

Not sure we’re to start, food was terrible, I ordered lamb shanks- Ram shanks would have tasted nicer! shanks we’re just off being cold, the veggies obviously being frozen vegetables soggy again almost cold. My wife had fish, I asked what was the fish I was told it was white fish, ok was it blue cod, told no it was white not blue -Righto , stupidity I ordered that for my wife, yip indeed it was WHITE fish - looked like and tasted like flattened frozen fish fingers. The chips, they where also just off cold. Seriously bad food ! I live in the Coromandel where we are blessed to have an abundance of sea food and fresh produce, the peninsula rely on tourism as does the West Coast , one of our major roads are closed until next year but that is no excuse for terrible food. After reading the reviews some time after dining here as I left my phone at the camp ground. as a business owner of which I rely on good reviews (I’m not in hospitality) the owners of this business are NOT taking any notice of their clients. Owners you can’t blame this on “it’s hard to get good staff” this is your issue you need to sort out for the good of your community. I actually feel guilty leaving this review but it really was the worst meal we have ever had...

Guys after reading the reviews I had high hopes for this hotel, great atmosphere in a fantastic location. Unfortunately it was down hill from here. The people at the table next to us walked out with a refund before our dinner was served. To say I was a tad nervous at this point was an understatement. Im not sure what was going on in the kitchen, but it was certainly putting pressure on your front of house staff, watching them have to provide explanations for poor cooking on a couple of occasions. Then my raw fried chicken wings arrived😬with potato chips (advertised with kumara) I was so disappointed. I sent them back only to have the same refried wings returned to my plate some 10-15 minutes. The service was terrible, they were unhelpful, rude and slow. We were a group of four people looking for something to eat, we entered the place and no one attended to us, so we went to one of the FOH employees and asked for a table and although there was one available, they didn't offer it to us, instead we had to ask for it. They told us it was booked. So we asked if any table was available. When we were sitting down ready to order food, they told us that the kitchen was already closed. Why didn't they say that before we sat down? They even neglected to inform us of bar snacks. Anyway, we got snacks and they were nice for pub food.
