If you are disabled in any way shape or form, or if you plan to be able to prepare your own meals then either give this place a complete miss OR make sure they will house you on the ground floor! I suspect they have a standing agreement with a bus company and if you arrive after the bus has arrived you will be put upstairs like we were. This was totally unacceptable for me with my disability and caused me undue pain and discomfort. Also, there was a trip hazard just after the top of the stairs and one of the hand rails was loose when I used it to get up and down the stairs. This is an old Hotel that has been renovated quite beautifully and they have put beds in that sit together for couples or can be split into two for singles. I suspect this is specifically to cater to the bus company. The brand new toilets are annoying to use, especially for males who have to hold the seat up while they urinate. Also the lid falls on your back when you are sitting on it. The tiny sink pools water on the ledge around the tap and the soap cake runs away. The glass shelf next to the sink is not level and everything slides off it. The rooms get extremely hot in the late afternoon with the sun beating in and there are no fans in the rooms. They will bring you a floor fan on request. These are a bit too powerful even on the low setting and with the short cord and such a cluttered room it was difficult to find a place to position the fan. The second afternoon the room was not quite as hot because the sun was behind the clouds but the room was still very stuffy. The fridge is tiny and has no freezer compartment. No washing up facilities or soap or tea towel, let alone a sink or plates and utensils or a hot plate. If you stay here and you want to eat cheap, your best bet is either noodles, a salad, sandwiches or a pie from the very small store next door. Otherwise you will be paying dining out prices wherever you go. On the flip side we did have a complimentary breakfast supplied which was delicious and plenty of choice. Reception is not accessible for the disabled either, with steps from either direction. Last but not least, the beds were the hardest and most uncomfortable we have slept in so far. We would not return here without an airtight guarantee of a ground floor room and probably would choose somewhere else just to have the better cooking and fridge facilities. The staff were polite and friendly mostly. Cleaning staff were very friendly. The rooms were very clean and tidy on arrival. Wifi was good too although it was...
Read moreDreadful. This is honestly the smallest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. The bathroom room door can’t be opened fully and it hits the bedside table if you don’t squeeze through the partially open doorway. There is no outside sitting area for the rooms, which we would definitely have used. We told at check in that our paid for breakfast would be a smorgasbord from 7-9 am. When we arrived for breakfast we were told that it would be served in their sister hotel around the corner. After a bit of confusion regarding our having already paid we were allowed to order from the menu. So we sat in the musty dining room to eat. The food was ok. The coffee and juice were terrible. The two staff members we encountered were professional and pleasant. I felt sorry for them, as I’m sure they wear the brunt of dissatisfied customers. I would advise all travellers to avoid this place...
