I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, staff were very accomodating and helpful. Pointing me the nearby sights and what to do even though I arrived a little late that day. I very much recommend this place to stay if you’re visiting glacier country. The glacier itself, well I didn’t really get to see or experience it and I don’t think I will try to again. The drive was long a treacherous to get here and you’re basically on a farm next to a mountain, so not much to see or do for me personally. Sunset motel was a fantastic stay though, clean rooms nestled in a quiet space with a great view.

The room is large and the view is also stunning. The owners of the place are a Chinese family and the man that was there when we arrived doesn’t know a word of English. He called someone and she translated because we had a problem with the shower, there is no flow in the water, and no hot water in room 10- a nightmare. We moved to another room, we had hot water in the shower ☺️but no heat in the room 😢- the radiator keep shutting down. And in the fridge we found 2 dead bugs 😱 They were very nice but unfortunately the place needs to be better entertained - the view is not enough.

Clean & comfy studio room. Great spa bath units. Good heating. We love this motel, it is quiet & private with fabulous outlook towards the mountains. Couch & TV both great. Room is large with good storage. Kitchen with hob. Bed very comfortable. Shower pressure is ok, not huge pressure, but the shower head is good. Very obliging owners. Just be aware if you have a spa bath unit, the one next door is as well & the noise from the next door one is very loud & annoying & prevents early nights! We had our bath early at 8pm. The neighbours chose to use theirs til 10pm. 😉

We stayed here for two nights and had issues with this place as follows:||1. Arriving at check in an elderly Chinese lady appeared at reception, dialled a number on her phone and pointed to it. I was connected with her son who’s somewhere else and did check in with him by phone….really ??|2. The first room we were given had no wifi as it was so far away from reception. We asked to be moved, by phone again, and we provided with another room where the wifi worked.|3. The lid on the kettle was broken and fell off when filling.|4. The hot water pressure appears almost non existent and, in the mornings when everyone was showering, there was almost no water coming out of the shower and this morning I got up at 6am to shower early but still almost no pressure and took forever to get hot.|5. The bed was super springy and didn’t feel very much like quality at all.||On the upside, there’s plenty of parking as very few people in the motel ( I wonder why ? ) and the motel is close to the Main Street of Fox Glacier.||I always review our hotels on our trips and 99% of the time give glowing reviews but this place is having a lend at almost $200 Aud per night. No English speaking, no welcome, no facilities no water pressure and by the looks of it, no guests.|You can do much...

Not sure why we had to pay almost $150 a night when we stayed here last week (now showing as $89.00). For such competitive prices, we were expecting much better service, not someone who is non-English speaking trying to serve us at check in. I’m guessing they are parents of the owners who were not on site. They were not helpful when it came to explaining the washing and drying services (the dryers didn’t even work - and the service staff weren’t even around during the opening times like advised to assist - so we had to dry the clothes in our rooms ourselves). While trying to get change for the washing machine, the non-English speaking server at the desk also took more money from us then should be exchanged. I lost five dollars when I should have been given change for the five dollars. When I tried to explain, they just smiled and didn’t give me my money back. The room had very old stained carpet and a musky smell. We booked for 3 nights but only stayed for two. Such a rip off and I’m really disappointed because if they took greater care of the place, it would be such a gem given the mountain views and...
