I have really no idea why there are so many highly impressed reviews. Indeed, the owners are very friendly and welcoming. And yes, the location in the centre of the town is also a benefit. The beds and the pillows are comfortable and have no smells. Bed linen was very clean, fresh and without detergent smell. Sadly, that's it. We got a room with the only one socket, through which all the electrical appliances are powered. It made us afraid of short circuit or fire. Despite they provided a surge protector, there are no guarantees of safety. And anyway, should it be like this? Due to overloading the surge protector simply turned off in the middle of the night while we were sleeping and then woke up when it got too cold inside of the room. Here is the second and the worst issue - window frames. It looks "promising" seeing how curtains sway back and forth in the wind even though the windows are closed. Meanwhile, the outside temperature was about 5C with strong gusts of cold wind. So, to heat it up and to keep the room warm you need to use two heaters and to cover the windowsills with blankets. And it's not enough anyway. Complete lack of insulation. And it takes ages to wait for the ice-cold water to flow out and the hot water to start flowing. Moreover, if you wanna try to make the water warm, there's no options - the taps are only make ice-cold and hot water. The floor surface is old and creaky. Everything is very worn out.
I understand it's a budget option. But even for the budget option it's intolerable and unacceptable.
Thanks for the hosting and we wish you to get a chance to...
Read moreStayed here for one night, as many others who stay here. I was greeted by one of the owners, Linda, who was charming and friendly. I accidentally booked for the wrong night but this was fixed right away. I found the stay to be cozy and unique with the welcoming of the people who worked there and the type of people who stayed. I hung out in the lounge room where Linda and Harry joined for an evening of conversation. We watched a movie together at night. I came when the coronavirus was brewing so there were less than 10 guests!||The building is quite outdated, including the bathroom. I never used the showers so I can't comment there. The kitchen was large but disorganized. The bedrooms are themed by animals. There are no lights or outlets near your bed. I had no problems with the internet. The location is close by to the city's shops. Parking lot is on the other side of the venue with at least 10 spots. I noticed there were several rooms that were more private and send more comfy but I can only comment as I stayed in a shared bedroom. No problems with smell but was cold and used the additional blankets in the room for warmth. It was a great one night stay but not sure the amenities would be good for an...
Read moreNoah’s Ark Review The new owners have breathed new life into Noah’s Ark restoring it to its former glory and very much in keeping with the period that it was built. Jeremy and Olla’s focus care and attention has rejuvenated the 1915 relic intervening before it was beyond repair. I stayed in the Bohemian Nouveau room which is immediately to your left as you enter the building. The bed was comfortable and the room was warm despite the Greymouth Barber in the morning. I was enchanted and transported both by the ‘olde worlde’ décor (which looks as a good as new-a result of their attention to detail) and Jeremy regaling me with stories of the building’s history. Jeremy and Olla have faced numerous challenges in the process of resurrecting the building. The one downside was the poor shower pressure; however, they are in the throes of renovating the bathrooms and expect that will be of a (their) high standard in the near future. The magic of staying in Noah’s Ark is only exceeded by Olla and Jeremy’s warmth and generosity. Highly recommended to...
