Doughboys Noodle Cafe — Restaurant in South Island

YUCK. Don't waste your time. I ordered the 'bacon and egg burger'. I asked the woman working if they are made fresh to order (I could see some burgers and sandwiches pre-made in the fridge) and she said yes they are - that was a lie. Firstly, I received the burger and it was not as described - the board listed only bacon and egg as the ingredients, yet when I received it it had a bacon substitute (like the ham you get out of a tin), egg, a miscellaneous meat patty, beetroot, lettuce, tomato, tomato sauce, and mayonnaise. If all those extra ingredients were listed on the board, I would not have ordered it. Secondly, she had told me it was fresh to order - what a joke! The patty was luke warm on the outside and stone cold inside, the egg was overcooked and cold, the 'bacon' was cold and hard, the beetroot was obviously out of a tin that had not been drained and turned the bin completely soggy (which wasn't helped by the 2 added sauces). Our experience at Doughboys Noodle Café was beyond frustrating and an absolute disgrace. We ordered two dozen dumplings and were told there would be a 15-minute wait. Instead, we were left waiting for over 30 minutes with no explanation or updates. The sheer incompetence from the staff was staggering.

After being blatantly ignored, we had no choice but to demand a refund. The fact that we had to force them to give us our money back after wasting nearly an hour of our time is outrageous. We left with no food, no apology, and nothing but anger.

Adding insult to injury, other members of our group who ordered just before us got their dumplings, but they were laughably overpriced at $24 for mediocre quality. $2 a dumpling for something so underwhelming? What an absolute rip-off.

This place is a joke. The staff are completely disorganised, the service is appalling, and the food is not worth the money. Save yourself the frustration and avoid Doughboys Noodle Café...

We are a bunch from Auckland and we are vegetarian. When we placed orders, we checked with them and made sure that there are no onions or garlic in the ingredients. The burger came out with a Pattie that contains onions and they shown a worst possible attitude and reluctant to make any adjustments.

The waitress kicked my wife’s chair 3 times as they are venting. Worst possible customer service. Much better off waiting in a queue for the greeedy cows cafe next door.

Don’t ever come to this one, they are a bunch of Chinese workers whom don’t understand any English and pretend they know.

As for the food, I ordered a big breakfast and it looks horrible and lack of attentions. Ingredients wise it’s just boring and bad compare to any tourism place we have been.
