My recent stay at the Radisson Blu Hotel was far from satisfactory, and I would strongly advise against choosing this establishment for your accommodation needs. Despite my positive experiences at other Radisson hotels in Scandinavia, this particular one left me thoroughly disappointed on multiple fronts.
First and foremost, the check-in process was marred by a significant hiccup as the hotel staff couldn't locate our booking promptly. This initial inconvenience set the tone for a less-than-pleasant stay.
Upon entering our rooms, we were greeted by an unwelcome chill. The rooms were uncomfortably cold, and the situation didn't improve in the bathrooms, where the water supply was erratic, oscillating between cold and warm. This made taking enjoyable showers nearly impossible.
The overall cleanliness of the room left much to be desired. Dust seemed to be in constant circulation, and the toilet button bore evidence of not having been adequately cleaned after previous guests. Such oversights in cleanliness are unacceptable in a hotel of this caliber.
The dining experience was equally disappointing. While the first day's breakfast was passable, the subsequent two days were marred by subpar scrambled eggs that tasted oddly sweet, suggesting a mix-up in the kitchen between sugar and salt. The breakfast coffee served on the table was overly bitter, and to make matters worse, there was only one espresso machine available, which frequently underwent lengthy self-cleaning cycles, leading to frustrating waits. A simple solution would have been to provide an additional espresso machine to cater to the guests' needs more efficiently.
We ultimately resorted to eating breakfast at a nearby bakery, where we enjoyed far superior food quality and service.
The quality of sleep was also compromised due to excessively soft beds, resulting in back pain after just two nights. Connecting our devices to the TV proved impossible, as we could only access other room numbers, not our own.
Further disappointments included broken bed lamps and the absence of a mini-bar, forcing us to venture out to purchase our own drinks.
Housekeeping services left much to be desired. During our three-day stay, they failed to replenish our shower gels and shampoo, necessitating us to take matters into our own hands and retrieve these essentials from the housekeeping trolley while staff was busy cleaning other rooms.
All these disappointments have led me to conclude that I won't be using Radisson Blu Hotel services again. I've heard of two top hotels nearby with renowned breakfasts, and I would strongly recommend exploring those options instead for a more enjoyable and...
Read moreWe stayed in this hotel from 30 December to 3 January. Not by design. We were supposed to fly to Leknes (Lofoten) on 30 December via Bodo, but the flight to Bodo was delayed by five hours – two hours circling in the air trying to land due to heavy winter snow storm. By the time we landed, all connecting flights to Leknes had already taken off. We were not able to book anymore connecting flights to Leknes for the next two days or any flight back to Oslo until 3 January. As a result, we were stranded in Bodo for four days.||We chose Radisson because it is just about five-minute drive from the Bodo airport. The winter storm was merciless. Most shops were closed during the New Year weekend. We found ourselves having nothing to do, except taking a walk to the jetty. We also had no luck in catching the Northern Lights at the pier. If not for the New Year weekend, it would have been more palatable as the many nearby shops and eateries would have opened for business. But it’s an interesting experience anyway as if we had a real White Winter Christmas and New Year.||We took three premium rooms. Were told the next category is the Junior Suite, but the premium room is hardly premium. The rooms are small. The front desk staff, especially Chris are friendly. There is a mini-mart in the same building, and so it was convenient for us. ||My only complaint is that as we had to leave the hotel on 3 January at 5.30am to catch our flight, we were still charged for breakfast for 6 paxs. The reason being they had already printed the invoices for me! But I obviously needed to look at the invoices before confirming. Anyway, even though it was a small sum of 1000 Noks, I think this is...
Read moreI had the pleasure of interacting with a lot of the staff, who made my stay extremely pleasant.||Last night, I went up to the bar to have a drink. The bartenders were knowledgeable, honest, and great fun to chat to!||I had to take a few late night calls overseas, and headed down to the lobby to let my partner sleep. The young guy working night shift came over to offer me water, and when I said yes he practically ran to get it for me! We ended up having a super long conversation where he helped me practice my Norwegian. Super pleasant!||This morning, I found myself caught in meetings and unable to make it in time for breakfast. I went down to see if I could grab any of the leftovers, and was greeted by a trainee named George and his trainer (who I believe was named Monica, she was Norwegian, with reddish brown hair). I informed them of my situation and with a smile, they told me to have a seat, made me a coffee, and sent me off with a fresh omelette. These two truly made my day!||Management, if you’re reading this, you have amazing staff. I’ve worked in hotels and know people are quick to complain, but hope you give these folks the recognition (& pay)...
