Booked a table for a nice family dinner(5 people), was greeted at the door with a snappy “can I help you? Do you have a reservation?”, a simple hello or welcome would have lifted the experience a lot. We were given menus, but not the chance to order drinks at once. A good half hour later the waiter came to take the orders. We had the crispy duck, roasted beef strips, spring rolls and sushi assortment. Food took ages to arrive, glasses was empty long before the food arrived and there was never an offer to refill. Waiters was very busy. I had the sushi and it was really simple and had a foul taste of the fish(I am experienced with sushi). The ginger and the fish eggs had a good taste, but it stopped there. They also forgot to serve the soya sauce with the sushi, so there was no disguising the taste. I decided to politely send it back, as the taste (and presentation) was on par with some in a plastic box from the grocery store. The waiter asked if wanted something else and I accepted under the circumstance that it must something that is quick as my party was finishing their courses. Around five minutes later, I was told that they could make a dish of fried beef in five-eight minutes, and I was waiting. And waiting. 20 plus minutes later, the beef arrived, all the others had finished long ago, all glasses was still empty(still without an offer to refill) and I simply was too sad about the lousy experience to eat anything so we asked for the bill. It arrived promptly as a pay terminal asking for tips, without specification/receipt. I payed the NOK 1685 asked and went for bacon hot dog at the neighboring Narvesen Kiosk. The few points lifting this from a one star is the nicely appointed premises and reports of the good crispy duck and decent fried beef. The spring rolls where dry and tasteless and both sauces a...
Read moreI don't know how you mess up sushi this badly. I've had a variety of good, quality sushi, and some not so good sushi too. The theory behind sushi is simple: a way to appreciate fish. Norway has an excellent fishing industry, with lots of high quality fish. Ohma has high quality fish. When I could dig it out from the condiments, I could tell. And I did have to dig. There were condiments topping every roll. Just by itself, that would be okay, even chic perhaps. A bit of roe or sesame or green onion never hurt anyone. Pretty much universally, though, they were covered in spicy mayonnaise. It turned the fish from delicious to disgusting. Furthermore, the sushi is almost exclusively 'chefs choice.' Which really stops you from ordering what you want (you'd have to in order to avoid the spicy mayo). It's a good option in most places, but not so much when it's the exclusive option. There are plenty of other dishes on offer that seem appealing though, but I'd avoid ordering the dim sum. The edamame was good. The service was nice, and the atmosphere was nice, if... eclectic? The take-out chopsticks and paper napkins were very strange, though.
This sushi wasn't for me, I think. Best stick with the non-sushi dishes if I...
Read moreGood food, with a nice selection. The sushi is most probably the best in Bodø. Though it's very standard, nothing really fancy.
They also offer sake. Both cold and warm. I did not see this on the menu.
The clientele was polite and efficient. And the food arrived after a comfortable amount of time.
The atmosphere is cosy and would fit a romantic dinner if this was the case.
The lavatory is clean and stocked with necessities.
The restaurant share a wall with a gym. So there can be sounds from weights being dropped under certain exercises. This can be felt in the floor and table if you are placed in the innermost part of the restaurant. (And maybe elsewhere) This is something that they are trying to fix. But as you can understand, it's hard to manage the behaviour of...
