Bait Al Aqr — Hotel in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate

Full of charm and great location for exploring the old town, everything is within a 5 min walk. It’s a safe place to walk around and only noisy at the weekend.||We parked the car at the car park next to Al Aqr Restaurant and it was a short walk down the road with our luggage.||Upon arrival we were met by the cleaner and a local cafe owner who sorted our room, we didn’t meet the owner until our second night. The rooms are small but full of character and unique. They weren’t cleaned during our stay but perfectly adequate for a 2 night stop. We booked the private external bathroom which was part of our upstairs room - good enough and not a problem at all!||The roof terrace was also a lovely place to relax and the communal fridge downstairs was handy too.||Niz Cafe next door is a great place to stop for coffee and cake. My room was advertised as having “private external bathroom.” It turns out that not only other people were using “my” bathroom, but it was tiny (barely able to move in it) and dirty (pee scum was left on the toilet bowl from the minute I arrived to the moment of checkout 2 days later, attracting many mosquitos). My ground floor double bed room was not only cramped, but extremely noisy as I can clearly hear the sound and conversation of everyone passing by the lobby as well as in the street. The staff went AWOL the 2 days I stayed, as nothing was cleaned and the drinking water tank empty since my arrival was never refilled. Great location! Quiet and peaceful but still only a few min walk to the fort, the Nizwa wall (I recommend at sunset!), and the old souq restaurants. Great, fast WiFi and very attentive staff. The roof terrace is nice as well! The bathrooms and beds were very clean. The rest of the place is a little dusty, the water jug could have been cleaner, it would have been nice to have 2 bathroom stalls, and the rooms are small, but all made up for with comfortable beds in a great location with kind staff.
