This was my first AC Hotel brand and this was a 'never again' for me. Now I know why I couldn't find any real information about what the rooms had in them. Who designs a bathroom with a see-through glass door??!!! I had to ask my guests to leave the room every time I had to go to the bathroom and vice versa. This is not European concept at all. I lived in Europe for many years. The room has no closet just an open storage cubby with compartments that is glass and see through so everyone can see your items. The shower and toilet are literally visible from the main door area--where what should be a solid door and a wall. There's only one dresser with two drawers in the entire room. There is no where to hang the robe they give you because there are no doors or closets. The hangers in the glass cubby had my visible clothes on it. The fridge is super small. The coffee maker is super small and only has small pods and small paper cups you'd normally use for mouthwash. There's no where to get hot water for tea or coffee. There is no room service either. No bathroom cabinets . All of my personal toiletries out on display. I couldnt figure out how to turn the freggin AC up because it was freezing on 20 celsius the 1st night and there are no instructions on how. So I turned it off. Only to hear the chairs scraping the floor above me. There's zero insulation between the floors. The next morning, I called the front desk about the freezing temperatures, and she told me there is a compartment on the side that flips open to adjust it. So that was a relief. There is nowhere to store luggage or put anything out of sight. There wasnt even a pen or a bible in the room. There was a Book for Mormons. There is no alarm clock. The phone doesnt even look like a phone. It looks like a remote control. There are no instructions on how to use it. The lighting was dim and terrible. I couldnt find any book about the services provided at the hotel like room service, nor anything about the area. I just happened to change the channel to the only English channel that isnt the news and saw the the directory option on the TV. Which is also where the wakeup alarm is and instructions on how to use the phone. The trash bins have no liners and are super small. you can't fit a to go box of food in it at all. And no microwave of course. They don't even offer at least 3 movie channels in English, but they have multiple US channels dubbed in Spanish. Other hotels in the area have at least offered English movie channels. I had to get on youtube and netflix on my phone in order to watch movies.
Yes, the area is ideal if you need to be in this area but this was ridiculous. Im really glad I got it at a reduced price. So reduced, I couldnt afford to leave after day 1 and switch hotels.
The hotel is very upscale designed and beautiful. The service by the staff is great. But thats Panama in general--excellent service. This was my first and...
Read moreThis is by far one of the best hotels I've stayed at in a while. This was also my first time staying at an AC Hotel. One word....perfection! I don't think this hotel is more than two years old because the last time I was in Panama City I don't remember it.
The warm, contemporary design and earth color decor are soothing through out. It feels like a modern, hip hotel. I enjoyed the art work around the lobby. The room was designed in a minimalist way. There's not a lot of cluttered paperwork or magazines around the room; bed, phone, pen, writing pad. That's it! Obviously, you have in-room amenities like a refrigerator and coffee machine and plenty of closet and storage space. I appreciate the empty refrigerator. Great for those like me who like to run to the supermarket and buy things. The room was larger than I expected. The ceilings were high with floor to ceiling windows. The views of the skyline are great. The bathroom was of average size. Glass separates the bathroom from the room. You can see out but no one can see in! Once again, an uncluttered bathroom. You're supplied with your standard amenities (towels, soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion). I found the rain shower head heavenly.
They offer free fruit, hot coffee, iced coffee and tea daily until 5:30pm. This is located off the lobby area at the bar/business center/living area. The business center has Mac desktops and the wifi throughout the hotel was fast. I had an opportunity to workout a few times in the fitness center. It's located on the top floor, just off the pool area. The gym is small but has the basics to keep fit. Cardiovascular machines, free weights, and an all-around body strength machine. There's also fruit, newspapers, towels, and stretch mats. The view from the pool/fitness center is spectacular. They have music playing at the pool day and night. If I had to make one recommendation to the hotel, turn the music off. There's some of us who like the peace and quiet of a pool deck. Everyone has music on their phones or they stream it.
Location wise, your a 10 minute walk to the ocean and within minutes are cafes, restaurants and Rey Supermarket. The nearest Metro station is about 5 minutes away. I would also like to say the staff were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. I'll definitely stay here again when I...
