I visited Panama City with my Mom and we chose the Renaissance Hotel for its luxury, vibrant art, and prime location.
From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming. José greeted us as soon as we pulled up, introduced himself, and helped with our bags while engaging in conversation, instantly making us feel at home. He alao took time to explain where we were, helping us get our bearings and offering local knowledge about the city. The check-in team was also friendly, professional, and happy to assist with any requests or questions.
We were eager to know more about booking trips and visiting key tourist destinations. This is where we met David at their 'Navigation' desk - one of the highlights of our stay. David was incredibly welcoming & engaging to our sightseeing plans. We had spoken briefly via email before our trip and provided a brochure of tours they offer. I found him very attentive to our needs with how we were hoping to go about sightseeing. Aside from that, we found David enthusiastic and a genuine, approachable loving person. Every time we left or came back to the Hotel, if he was at the front desk he would come & ask us how our day went, we had a great time chatting to him. After a short talk, he took us to Jota's Bar where we met Aristides. After choosing a couple of cocktails, we enjoyed watching Aristides make them while explaining to us his techniques, spirits combinations and how the flavors work together. My Mom, in particular, thought they were the best she's ever had!
Because of how welcoming both David and Aristides were, we continued returning to Jota's Bar every evening and worked our way through the cocktails menu. This was another highlight of our vacation. Aristides has an exceptional wealth of expertise, experience & passion for his craft!
The room was exactly as adverted and immaculate. My only concerns about the room were lighting & the AC. The rooms could benefit with a main light; you only have the light by the door and wall lights. The lamp shade looked like it had been knocked during cleaning. The room itself was quite warm & the air con which released a few droplets of water, was a bit cold for my Mom which effected her asthma. This made it a bit of a balancing act, in that regard. The quality of the room, though, was fantastic.
They have a pool which is a little on the smaller side, however, as we were out sight seeing, we didn't use this at all & given where the hotel is, sunlight can be limited but it's still a nice facility to have. If we were there longer, we would have taken advantage of it more.
I would highly recommend staying at Marriot's Renaissance. The staff are very professional & their English second to none. I'm hoping to return soon to see more of...
Read moreJust wrapped up a stay at the Renaissance in Panama and overall, I had a pretty good experience overall. At first impression it felt like a five star hotel. The location is neither good or bad, it’s a little rough around the edges, but nothing that bothered me too much. It’s not in the heart of the action like Balboa, but it’s not totally out of the way either. Kind of a mixed bag. It’s very close to the AC Hotel.
They acknowledged my Platinum status. They gave me a nice upgrade in the Club suite upon checking in. Which I appreciated.
Breakfast at the hotel was as expected. Good selection of fruit, fresh juices, an omelette station, and some bakery items. Nothing over-the-top fancy, but a nice breakfast nevertheless. The coffee was good too.
Service throughout the hotel was also very good. The guy at the front helped me with my bags, and everyone I interacted with was friendly and professional.
The pool area was also really nice, quiet and relaxing.
A few downsides. The executive lounge was closed due to renovations, that was a small letdown. I was looking forward to taking a bath once I got to my room, but the hot water came out discolored, (light brownish) and the stopper didn’t work, so I couldn’t get the tub to fill. A little disappointing. Obviously there had to be an issue with the plumbing.
The shower pressure was great, they had aveno rosemary & mint soap which was nice. The seal at the bottom of the shower door wasn’t very strong and water leaked out.
The main reason for my stay was to get a good nights rest before an early flight, after a busy day I get to the room later than expected and begin to hear a random noise coming from what sounded like poor plumbing. It was like a drilling sound, it kept making noise throughout our entire stay. It would only happen every so often. I had trouble staying asleep. This was a nuisance.
I get the sense they’re still renovating things, so I’m hopeful it’ll be better in the future. It’s a legitimate 4 star hotel with 5 star upside. My rating is based on my particular experience.
All things considered, I like this hotel. I thought it offered great value. It’s got a lot of potential. I’d stay here again in the future once they get better...
