This hotel is located on a quiet street within the center of El Cangrejo. A good laundry is next door, with Rey's large grocery, dining, and other stores within a walkable half mile. The 9 floor building offers a small roof top pool with a view, a clean gym with cardio equipment and dumbbells on the 8th floor, parking garage on the 3rd floor, restaurant on the 2nd floor, and attractive 1st floor lobby with a 24/7 front desk. I found the English speaking front desk staff extremely professional, friendly, and helpful in a variety of contacts and matters. The maids, though lacking English, were equally good staff. Mask wearing was required and prevalent throughout the building, as well as outside on the sidewalks and businesses.||||Booking.com gave me a free upgrade to an executive room that actually consisted of 2 large rooms and an unusually huge bathroom. My 8th floor room offered an open city view, wall sized windows, and good ambient light. It was modern, clean, bug free, comfortably furnished, and reasonably supplied with bed pillows, bath toiletries, iron, board, coffee maker, and small fridge. The AC and TV worked well, with some English channels being included in the cable lineup.||||Besides aging furniture, this hotel has problems lowering the rating from what could and should be a 5 star place. First, my connecting room door (not requested) offered little sound proofing from the adjacent loud family. Second, the rolling bed was a stupid inconvenience every evening when leaning back to watch TV. Third, my room had at least 6 maintenance issues - all small but a sign of neglect. Fourth, the bathroom lacked a hair dryer which any nice hotel should have. Fifth, and most significantly, was the poor wifi that plagued my room for the entire 6 night stay. It was weak at best and would lose signal multiple times throughout the day for minutes at a time. No place in the room worked better, and the service tec did nothing to solve the problem. In fact, he advised that the router was 2 rooms down, disappeared, and never returned. Perhaps some rooms do better than others, but this critical amenity's failure for my stay would prevent me from returning.||||This is a nice hotel in a good location with a great staff, but its poor wifi alone should cause pause for anyone really needing reliable service. For more money, the Best Western Plus is definitely a better prospect; and for comparable money, smaller windows, and a lesser view, the nearby Coral Suites offers nice rooms with a kitchen and consistently higher...

Read moreI was in Panama for a week. I booked this hotel based on reviews and services. I arrived after 4 PM on 5/31/2023. The front desk staff and maintenance were extremely friendly and helpful. However, that's where the positive aspect ended. I was immediately told my reservation did not include the breakfast buffet for the days that I was there. This is the opposite of what the website offered. I showed them the website stating " The hotel’s Carmenére Restaurant serves modern international food and guests can also enjoy a free full buffet breakfast." This was ignored. I was assigned a room on the 8th floor by the gym. I immediately noticed that there was no safe, no coffee maker, and no refrigerator. I called the front desk and they sent a coffee maker. While the coffee maker was being delivered I heard construction from one of the adjacent rooms. The man sent to deliver the coffee maker " Yashir" was extremely polite and understanding. He told the workers to stop the drilling and hammering which they did. However the following day it continues after 5 pm. ( No rest) After that, I started hearing what seemed like someone screening or playing music extremely loud a few doors down. This went on for hours. I called the front desk and was told " Ah yes" we apologize there is a singer on that floor. I told the front desk that I had booked a hotel room, not a concert. They agreed that it was unacceptable and went and told the woman to keep the noise level down. Immediately after that and until I left, someone kept slamming their door at all hours. Maintenance did bring me a small refrigerator. Again the staff was very friendly however I would NEVER stay there again. One last comment. I don't know who designed the entry to this hotel but you don't design stairs and walkways with slippery ceramic tile EVER. It rains every day and the exterior stairs and walkways are a hazard. The steps leading into the hotel are not clearly designed or marked. This is not uncommon in Panama City. Be very careful where you walk. The sidewalks and stairs can be...
